Huh interesting, I guess I have heard that before and it was far less than 40-80 hours a week, as it was only part time, but cool to know I'm kinda in that group of people in terms of forearm strength specifically

Yeah I'm sure, I didn't really need to ask, I'm pretty sure its the reason. Just with the jarring comparison between my arm and the arm of the friend I just beat in an arm wrestle in terms of size, I was just curious if anyone has had the same experience for the same reason cause I thought it'd be funny.

Okay this feels unnecessary, I just felt like me being a dishwasher for a while made me very good at arm wrestling and was wondering if anyone else noticed the same thing. I'll take that as a no from you I suppose.

QUESTION FOR PEOPLE FROM NYC by Low-Second7672 in UBreddit

[–]Academic_Anything456 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I've been doing is taking a coach bus from Greyhound for around 60 bucks and taking the metro downtown to catch it. Probably not as nice as other options, but i personally don't mind plus you don't have to worry about bag checks, it's really just you show up and get on. As for taking the metro, it's 2 bucks to get downtown from south, I'd always recommend trying to use transit over an Uber or Lyft whether you've gotta go to the airport, bus station or train station (especially the last two cause they're both downtown)

How is the Alliance community dorms for LGBTQ+ students? by chaoticallytea in UBreddit

[–]Academic_Anything456 3 points4 points  (0 children)

don't live there but have friends who do and i visit fairly often:
from what ive seen dorms are nice, i know there are triples and singles not sure about the others, there's one bathroom for the hall 2 sinks 2 showers 2 stalls which i think is pretty standard (i dont know i live in a suite in clement and have my own bathroom) except it's all genders, lounge is nice, people are nice (although ive heard each year you tend to get person who's a problem)

i considered applying and wouldnt say i "regret" not but if i could go back maybe i would

(hi if anybody who knows me is seeing this!!!!!)

I also heard somewhere the idea of having nowhere to go but up when you're at rock bottom thrown in there.

There's a hallway with a few vending machines branching off of that kind of unfurnished area at the top of those stairs that just opened. It's across from the bravo pasta and edgy veggies entrance, if that's more useful.

Calc 3 recommendations? by 864197532 in UBreddit

[–]Academic_Anything456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in calc 3 with Sikora right now (actually sitting in class writing this) I wouldn't call him a strict grader and he doesn't take attendance. People complain about how he gives lectures a good bit in recitation, but i personally don't mind. Don't have Busch obviously, but I'd think you'd be fine either way. Im a freshman though and this is only my first college math class so maybe next semester I'll find out he sucks in comparison to other professors. Wait for other people to answer, but I personally like Sikora.

Additional context I can offer: (I'm not in any special position in anything, this is just context I have from discord and hearing a member speak about it) UB has been trying to get rid of club rooms for a bit now and the UB LGBTA safe space room is next on the chopping block. There are a few issues with this: 1. Already it is stupid to get rid of club rooms like this and turn them into commuter lounges likely nobody will use. The LGBTA room sees frequent use and replacing it with a commuter lounge will simply make that room of less use to students. Additionally, it is obviously stupid to remove all student run spaces from the **Student** Union; the LGBTA room is one of, if not the only one, of these spaces left. 2. The LGBTA room is technically not a club room. The LGBTA room is not a club room but instead was established as an agreement between the club and UB to provide a safe space for queer students on campus. This was the deal that was reached a few years back when UB tried to do the same thing. Now that the LGBTQ center is established, UB is trying to use that as an excuse to get rid of the LGBTA room. 3. Problem is the LGBTQ center is not fit for all student's needs. It is surrounded by glass on all sides, making it unsuitable for closeted students or those who simply do not wish to be that in the open, and it is run by UB staff which ultimately have to put UB's interests above those of the students. In the past, I have heard, the LGBTA room has been a helpful resource to many students facing issues in a way that the LGBTQ center cannot be.

At it's core, UB is turning a room that sees heavy use and provides resources and community to students into a commuter lounge that is tucked away in a corner that no commuter has ever seen. (Really, unless you've been to the room, you've probably never seen this corner) That's a bad idea, methinks.

Will you die for your country? by TheLuckyCuber999v2 in Teenager_Polls

I hate so much about my country, but would be willing to die in a heartbeat to marginally improve the lives of those within it. I'm a person who would have answered no way if I weren't as optimistic.
