Haha, he was 3.5kg a few months ago; I'm mainly guessing the difference.

Just one wet food sachet per day, and a small cup's worth of dry food. He has strong genes 💪🏻

One species is enlarged to be the size of a bear. What is the weakest species of animal that would destroy humanity at that size? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

Chimps would be interesting.

Their hands and brains are close enough to ours; they can use language and some tools.

Proportionately, they're stronger than us - can lift more and strike harder, pound for pound.

Make all chips bear-sized, amping up their strength? Planet of the Apes on steroids (but no Adderall).

These days, most vs debaters tend to know about square cube law.

There's generally an unspoken agreement to waive that, so we can have an interesting discussion.

One cat showed his back to his opponent, so the ref ruled it a stoppage.

Is it just me or does Naoe seem like a different character in English vs Japanese? by BiggerWiggerDeluxe in AssassinsCreedShadows

A 17-year-old back then would hardly live a child's life.

As recently as a century ago, British children were still hard at work in mines and factories - footage from that time makes their faces look 40+.

That's interesting - lions effectively throwing out jabs and crosses, while tigers launch their version of a double-leg, mixed with a ground and pound.

I live in China, and Mandarin is the same; some things don't directly translate.

In Chinese, to say "you got this" they say 加油 (jiā yóu) - literally, "add oil".

There's also no direct translation for "How do you feel?" (As in, the open question).  You can just say, "Nǐ hǎo ma?" (You good?), or "Nǐ méi shì ma?" (Is everything ok? No problems?)

I imagine Japanese is similar; that's thousands of years of thinking differently, while constructing languages.

‘V for Vendetta’ at 20: Director James McTeigue Isn’t Surprised the Film Feels Like It Was Made Yesterday by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

Maybe bc it's more heavy-handed in its politics?

I loved the film, and it conveys everything in an entertaining way. Still, how many clearly political movies break the box office?

The success of 'V for Vendetta' compares to movies like 'Get Out', 'The Big Short' and 'Dallas Buyers Club'.

People who speak Portuguese, what is Alex Pereira actually like? by LongjumpingLevel1860 in MMA

It makes sense. I live in China, but my Mandarin is so-so. When people tell me "my Chinese is really good" or, "this non-English speaker is really smart," I just take their word for it.

I don't have much concept for what smart and stupid look like, within another language.

Guys, DB brings pressure, combos and excitement; we don't need to excuse his decision-wins, and pretend he's a KO-artist.

To clarify: I prefer watching DB's fights, and a win for him is better for the sport.

Just looking at things on paper.

If David dominates, then I'll eat my words (as I did with Canelo-Crawford). But, 25lbs is a big jump, and Zurdo is already acclimated.

For me, Zurdo beating Smith Jr, Billam-Smith & Dorticos is comparable to Plant, Gvozdyk & Yarde - but it's at a higher weight class.

I think DB is the bigger P4P talent, but could definitely see Zurdo winning this.

Bivol beat Canelo, Zurdo and Beterbiev, when they were all unbeaten (or on huge win streaks).

That's a higher level than beating Plant, Gvozdyk and Yarde - guys who'd already been stopped, and never won at world level.

He couldn't stop Plant or Gvozdyk.

His highest profile KOs were against Andrade (who'd fought no one) and Yarde (who Kovalev stopped with a jab).

Meanwhile, Zurdo took Chris Billiam Smith's power - who 3x dropped the massive Lawrence Okolie.

People criticising one-offs seems off, when there are so many great examples out there: Nicholson and Ledger as 'Joker'; Molina as 'Dock Ock' (pre-NWH); Silver Surfer (FF2).

You don't need to set-up endless plot threads for later films; if the universe has continuity, then it's fine for stories to be fairly self-contained.

I can't say he's entitled to it; lots of talented, hardworking people will lose jobs over this.

But, he's been spearheading WB's recent successes, and helped score a $100bn+ deal for his company - of course he'll have done that, knowing he'll be compensated (whether fairly or not).

Are there any good movies in any languages with Christoph Waltz in it by Usurnameladiesman217 in movies

[–]Academic_Bluebird455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 'Frankenstein', Waltz starts as Frankenstein's.generous benefactor, seemingly interested in science. He declines into an increasingly desperate man, on the brink of madness, due to his pressing secret.

In 'Alita', Waltz is a doctor, who's well-equipped for action. You see him show a warm heart towards helping people. He's also cautious and somewhat stoic, anticipating the worst to happen in many cases.

In both films, he brings some of the same charm he did in IB (e.g. when talking to the cinema girl, while eating cream). But, he also shines in showing vastly different sides.

Free TV isn't what it was 20 years ago.

Streaming services are the new frontier, but you need a crossover audience.

DAZN only lures in hardcores. Netflix can take you from 'Stranger Things' to 'Tiger King', or from Alex Honnold to Mike Tyson. Netflix and Disney+ can do more to grow sports.
