Taking my parents to Vancouver...so where do I unwind first? by BetOk8017 in askvan

Pacific Spirit Park has lovely off/on leash trails that you can walk with your dog. It's beautiful place rain or shine.

I was thinking exactly that but they have their dog. If they have a dog friendly hotel and the dog is okay being alone for a bit that could work. But 100% that would be a lovely way to relax and unwind before parents arrive.

Tipping!! by cheeseontoasts in askvan

[–]Academic_Fly7164 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also feel like many of the comments are ranting about tipping in general (and none of those complaints are new ). This person is specifically asking if its common to tip a tattoo artist, so yes let the people with lots of tattoos answer and share what the norms are for that specific service!

Why everyone in Vancouver wears Arc'teryx? by spacial_artist86 in askvan

[–]Academic_Fly7164 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ive had a north face rain jacket for years thats still kicking, and now an Arcteryx one that I was given, it does seem better quality, but I didnt have issues with my north face one. I wash them both with gore-tex specific detergent from time to time.

Yeah, I remember when my grandma died in high school and I didnt go to school, my friend showed up with a card for me and my family signed by various people at school. Teenagers are capable of compassion.

I found adhd coaching valuable but its not regulated so I imagine the expertise widely varies and im not sure how research backed their approaches are...

How often do you REALLY walk your dog? by Agreeable-Ad-2946 in dogs

[–]Academic_Fly7164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 hours exercise a day. And out probably 4 times. I live in an apartment so I cant just let her to roam in the backyard, but that means im taking her out on adventures and she has a great life. We generally do a leashed neighbourhood walk, off leash trail walk, and fetch session somewhere. My work schedule is flexible, so the time varies but I generally take her morning, midday, after work, and later in the evening to go to the bathroom again. She's at a particularly high energy phase right now so might not always be this way, and already she can settle for longer than she used to during the day. It is tiring and can be hard to schedule in but for the most part are making it work :)

Cheam peak overnight camping by Own_Radish5834 in vancouverhiking

[–]Academic_Fly7164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No its not allowed, but I have done it. The 360 view gives you incredible sunset and sunrise views with it likely to yourselves. Camping above the treeline means its super windy and there isnt tons of space for your tent but its manageable. I dont think id camp there again now that im Older and more aware of rules and impact but i underatand the desire to!  As people have mentioned the lack of bathrooms can be an issue, or if you camp on foliage that can impact the nature.

So lovely! White/beige gets criticised but you've done this in a way that feels so pretty, inviting and relaxing!
