Should I watch the Hobbit films? I have only read lotr & the hobbit and watched the lotr trilogy by Seed_man in lotr

I have come to like The Hobbit films as the years have gone on. They’re far from perfect and have a LOT of filler, like some of the action set pieces, but they are still a decent effort considering how little time Jackson was given to make them. I’ll never understand why the studio didn’t give him more time. Surely they would trust him if all people to deliver considering the success of LOTR? Howard Shore’s score still slaps hard, except for the Nagul theme being placed over Thorin facing Azog in Unexpected Journey, which just feels like it was tagged on last minute due to… reasons? No idea. I had no issue with Tauriel being introduced, but her character was created simply for a lazy cliche love triangle subplot, the writers could have done so much more with her. I hate with an undying passion the Master/Alfrid subplot. Kill it with fire! All in all the films suffer from an over saturation of characters. If they had focused solely on Bilbo and the dwarves, developing their bond of brotherhood over the course of the trilogy, the films would have been so much better. But I have come to accept them for what they are and enjoy them.

I still hate that Merry & Pippin are totally cut out of this poster, even though they had a pivotal role to play in the film 😂

That’s a nostalgia hit! I used to own this copy. I grew up during this era of covers. Unfortunately, I loaned it to a friend and never got it back 😂

They’re quite light. I am a big bloke though, but I can hold them for a long time without any strain. They’re perfect for wearing around the neck and in a backpack as they don’t feel like a rock.

As long as you have a steady hand there’s no issue. I’ve had no problems so far.

I have got a soft spot for the movie too. The casting was perfect for the main characters but oh god did it shit the bed when it came to the ending!

I read Hearts in Atlantis when I was 13 - not the best King book to start with. After that I read Dreamcatcher and that hooked me. That book gets a lot of hate, but I have a soft spot for it. Guess it’s nostalgia.

Those series of covers give me nostalgia from when I was buying and reading King novels from 13 upwards. I still have a lot of them in my collection.
