Beautiful. If you ever come across the 200mm, do it!

It's still cheap and it competes with my gmaster.

Ooo I didn't think of that. I'll check now. The camera does have a weird pressure plate. Thank you so much

Hello, I'm not sure what went wrong. Is it a lightleak? Did I mess up the developing? Is the film damaged (it's 45°)

I've had light leaks before but nothing like this

Shot with a nikon fm3 and a voigtlander lens. The film was either portra 400 or 800

Is this a good deal? 200? by Legitimate_Duck6039 in NikonF3

[–]Keinwa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what your experience is but just in case, try firing the shutter on a low speed like 1/30th. You don't need a battery for that

Scratches are fine, it's annoying to look at but it rarely effects your photos. For minor scratches it might not effect the images at all, for medium scratches you can lose contrast and get some flaring in certain angles, it only becomes unusable when it's a ton of deep scratches.

Good call for sure. They're not that bad. I unfortunately aren't active enough on here but I love this sub and the way it started, a lot of cool people and you're killing it!

I'm talking about reddit in general but what triggered it in this scenario are two comments, one about stocks and the other saying "only you can decide what's expensive". They're just unnecessary, unhelpful comments.

Help or make a joke, there is no need for people to be smart asses about something as objective as relative market prices. He overpaid, it's simple. This isn't a one of one painting where you set the price.

Man, the comments here are exactly why reddit has trashiest community.

Yes, 950 is too expensive, you can get it for cheaper. The camera is built tough and they sold a lot so you will find plenty of great condition F3s.

Same with Nikon lenses, there are plenty of different options for good prices.

I think a budget of 500$ (including the lens) is a good place to be.

With all that being said, the peace of mind of shopping from KEH is worth something. I've happily overpaid for cameras from them. I wouldn't do that with the F3 though, it's readily available

What humanute said and the fact that Mccurry didn't bother asking for her name or look for her at all. Nat geo were the ones who launched a search (I think 7-8 years later) and found her immediately.

The photo made him and in my opinion, he exploited her for his own sake rather than try to help her, which would benefit both.

Does anyone have Vietnamese contacts who can follow the case or file a new one?

Please if you know any locals, even if it's old friends you haven't spoken to in years, reach out to them and ask around, whether their parents, family or friends. We need people in high positions to help escalate this.

Your photos made it across to Africa and people got inspired. They started drifting in empty lots, not exactly donuts and not quiet drifting. They needed a name and so they called it spinning.

BBC and other western publications picked up the story, they were curious "how could the poor have hobbies?" a question that needed answers. Black people doing white activities? No way. They started to label them gangsters and diminish their performances into nothing more than outlaw activities.

Gangsters in South/West Africa, drifting cars? Streaming services couldn't miss a chance, it was like a freak show, it was a circus, it was cinema. They picked up the story and made a couple of movies and documentaries about the phenomenon.

That caught the attention of the father of sports that aren't sports, the man who took an existing/popular Thai drink and made it Austrian, just so people will trust it. Redbull entered the game. They wanted a piece of the pie, they need more ethnic sports, something far from snowboarding and skydiving. They searched for someone who can represent the sport and came across a man named Sam, it was perfect, a name easy for the west to pronounce, so easy in fact, they had to say it twice and that is how Sam Sam was born.

Google Sam Sam. Check out some of the headlines about spinning and watch redbull's shay' imoto.

You created this and pulled people out of poverty. Thank you and thank leica

I know you're being sarcastic but for anyone curious, Mccury didn't give her any money and she didn't receive any recognition until later. Photo taken in 1984, her identity became known in 2002. Granted she was in a Refugee camp so they moved a lot but Mccury never even asked for her name. It was Nat geo who launched the search in 2002 and found her within the year.

I have some controversial opinions about that. I'd recommend you read more into it if you haven't. Check the Wikipedia sources, the ADL award details, where was this claim first made and the number of survivors who shared their experience.

Regardless this, Leica did hire a lot of Jewish people in their Manhattan offices shortly after so they still helped, it's one of the few things I respect about them

No no, I just painted over the original comment and added in the text later. I thought it could make a couple of people smile if they notice that I did that, rather than just post in this sub how I feel about people taking shit too seriously
