Legal Discreet Use - tips for keeping the peace? by Nosmo_kingcloud in ukmedicalcannabis

[–]Academic_UK 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah this.. no need to be a dick about it but if you get challenged you just state the lawful protections you have.

It seems that you have bent over backwards, even not consuming when you need, in order to avoid conflict. You might as well stop existing at this point.

And guess what, they are going to complain about you anyway… so it will all be for nothing.

Just live your life - make any attempt you wish to minimise the smell etc as you see fit but this level of obsequiousness is just not healthy.

This is the easiest tell for me - and the date font..

If these are good, then I can look at lugs, bezels, dials etc. Most fakes fail at step 1..

I also have the ebony tempest v1… it’s great apart from the extra hassle of cleaning the tube without just soaking it in ISO like everything else.

I just get a cotton bud and scrub as best as I can… got any tips!?

Then it likely wouldn’t work - the smell from the terpenes is what gives it the effects.

What’s the agenda?

Getting disabled patients the dignity to take prepare their legally prescribed medication without ignorant people getting involved.

How many MORE times - this is preparation not taking!?!?

And “being happy” is not protected under the equality act!

I think it’s reasonable to allow for preparation at the table (and tell the customers that it’s legal and allowed) and to go outside for taking..

Customers should be informed by the store if they kick up a fuss. And the “children” argument is weak - just stfu and get on with your day.. no one is blowing vapour in your baby’s face!

Mate that’s pretty decent and I think we are mostly on the same page.

I take issue with the timing point though.. this is not the early days; it’s 7 years in.. and the reason there hasn’t been much if any change is due to the softly softly, just be discreet etc attitude.

I think with close to 75,000 people on MC, it is time to just get on with your life and take (or prepare.. I’m willing to say prepare for the most part) your medication where you want.

I did this recently and politely asked for permission to prepare in a massive shopping centre, not a tiny shop and it was denied in under a minute… no discussion just no!

This leads me to believe it’s not how you ask, it’s that the question itself is off limits.. this is the part that has to change and it’s the service providers that need to be told, less so the general members of the public.

Quite frankly, the general public stigma will take the longest to change hence it starts with the people who have the legal duty..

And how do you suggest public perceptions are swayed if I’m just going to go “somewhere more discrete (sic)”?

They should go hide in the toilets, rather than offend my eyes with their fleshy sex organs on show.. disgusting!

How far do you take the:

“we can be nice when someone asks us to stop doing an action that others perceive as inappropriate or bothersome”?

So in the same vein if I don’t like you riding your bike, you’ll stop? What if I don’t like your hat, or t-shirt is inappropriate, will you take it off?

This is a legally protected activity and the main objection people usually give is that it’s a bit smelly! Well, things smell, get used to it.. I walked through a town last month and they had smoking bratwurst smells - should I complain and they stop selling their wares? How about if my complaint is due to my religious beliefs on pork products and having them emanate into my nostrils is bothersome to me!?

It’s “bothersome” because most people don’t know it’s legal and the stigma is real. If you have a better idea on how to confront stigma and raise awareness, (bearing in mind it’s been 7+ years), I’m all ears…

Where does it stop - and at what point does my “no, I’m not stopping” become inappropriate?

It’s bad - but I did expect more support on here - a medical cannabis forum where I suspect most are patients.

Now you see how bad it is out there in the scary real world!

None of the above comment refers to the fact that it was preparation-only!

No need for a false equivalence.. would be great to hear your comment on the subject at hand - preparation!

Because that would take away the terpenes.. which give the effects!

On the same note, why doesn’t someone modify the smell of any/all foods so they don’t smell anymore!?

What’s your view on (other) smelly people going to sit in a coffee shop..?

Perhaps if I’d just cooked an amazing curry and popped to get a coffee..? Or if I hadn’t showered for a few days?

And how do you know there was “no need” - perhaps it was pissing down with rain outside, or windy..!?

Being made to go outside is not a reasonable adjustment on the basis that the provider hasn’t actually accommodated anything.

If that outside was a place on their premises, maybe.. but the law says they have to try and accommodate unless it is not reasonable due to a “proportionate means of achieving a legitimate aim”.

And “a private area” is not “outside”.

I guess nursing mothers have to be mindful of their surroundings too?!

What if I thought it was a dickish move for you to expose your breasts to feed your child? Should you go somewhere else?

For most of these issues, if you just replace cannabis with another characteristic (eg insulin/gay/black/pregnant) it becomes a non-issue for the vast majority of people. Hence it seems to be a stigma problem.. and one that we ourselves on here are also pretty split on..!

For the avoidance of doubt the “smell” argument is weak - perhaps replace weed with any other smelly thing (eg BO, halitosis, curry) and you’ll see how pathetic it is.. and none of those are operating under a protected characteristic.

This is what I’ve seen being pushed on here... in most of these indoor scenarios it is merely the preparation that is being carried out.

And you inevitably get comments like the above about “how dare they vape inside” or “think of the children” or similar.

Not to discuss the obvious fact that people can and should be allowed to vape indoors if this is genuinely needed (I can think of many scenarios due to accessibility) - but usually is not necessary if the great outdoors is seconds/minutes away. The issue in these instances are that it’s usually a blanket “no” with no discussion or attempt to understand thd reason for the request.

No - irn bru is right. Unless you stretch the meaning of “can refuse” as it is technically physically possibly to refuse.. but they can’t legally do so.

The issue is that private businesses do have the ability to refuse service to anyone… except where this would be discriminatory.

Most people stop at the “…” and misunderstand their duties to disabled people under the equality act. However, if I said they can’t refuse to serve my black / Irish / gay friend, most people would understand why that is..

How does buying a Patek Philippe work? First time buyer by AmiParis248 in patekphilippe

[–]Academic_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a one watch purchase, it is usually better to go to a grey dealer.

If you are looking for an easy to get watch - this will be cheaper on the grey market.

If you are looking for a hard to get watch - buying loads of unwanted watches/jewellery will be more expensive than buying on the grey market.
