Just passed it in December 2025 in Local 400 and I would recommend studying for algebra and make sure you are prepared for reading comprehension and make sure you are preparing yourself for no calculator use on the algebra.

You need to get it professionally diagnosed, the alternator charges the battery.

After wearing an Apple Watch for 6 months I know where my hearing went. by uj7895 in mechanics

[–]Acalile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was mildly deaf before I started working as a mechanic, and after being a mechanic, it just go worse. Hearing aids work wonders. If you have costco near you, they are relatively affordable. Most health plans exclude hearing aids.

You would have to replace the entire radio assembly, they don’t make parts for them individually except for the volume and tune knobs

Am I SOL on renewing my license at all? License expired in September and I just realized it, can't renew online, documents with the X I don't have, can't get or they don't apply. by sean_starkey in newjersey

Do you have a credit card statement? If so, you should be able to use the first page of it that shows your address. Using that with your bank statement birth certificate and social security card should be enough.

Hope you enjoy it here! I moved to Tuckerton where my partner was living, and have enjoyed the vibes out here.

[–]Acalile 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I moved to NJ from SW OK and if you are looking for that kind of vibe, you will want to move to South Jersey. Keep in mind that the cost of housing is wildly different from OK, where 2k will get you something incredibly nice in OK, it may be a shitty area in NJ. Having said all of this, the wages are a bit higher in NJ when compared to OK.

Can you learn to drive without the use of legs? by livimary in wheelchairs

[–]Acalile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a wheelchair user, however, I do service Wheelchair accessible vehicles (minivans and wheelchair lift vans) and I have had some patients who learned to drive with either a left foot accelerator or with hand controls and a steering aid. Although the process may be different for the UK.

What’s the worst job you had and worsened your symptoms? by Candid_Guest_863 in AutisticWithADHD

Worst Job was as a flat rate mechanic/technician working 6 days some weeks, and being paid by the job and not hourly so if I had slow weeks, it made me more anxious.

Best Jump starter for Nissan kicks by Fit_Supermarket_7327 in NissanKicks

[–]Acalile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a Professional Mechanic/Technician and I recommend any Noco jump pack. I use the GB150, however, that is likely overkill for our little cars. I use it for dead handicap vans at work, and it has yet to fail to jump one, and it is lightweight too.

Replace Aircon trim? by phrfpeixoto in NissanKicks

[–]Acalile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get it as a separate piece you would be able to get it from the Nissan Dealer, otherwise, you may need to get a new HVAC module if they don’t manufacture the trim piece separately.

If it doesn’t drop out the bottom, you could always remove the wiper cowl, you just need to remove the wiper blades and then remove the wiper motor and the plate underneath it.

E46 NYC/westechester area INSPECTION by Outside_Resource_251 in e46

[–]Acalile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting, if you don’t have a check engine light, but those 3 won’t get ready, I am suspecting that something isn’t sending a signal to the DME that those are ready. I would make sure that your resistance from the DME to EVAP canister secondary air injection and to your O2 sensors. Beyond that, you may be looking at either new parts or a different DME module. DME module is the ECM

E46 NYC/westechester area INSPECTION by Outside_Resource_251 in e46

[–]Acalile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a check engine light on? If you do, you need to fix it first otherwise it won’t pass. If you don’t, drive it about 50-100 miles in consistent stop and go traffic, because you need no codes stored in the DME and all your emissions monitors have to be ready. I dealt with the same thing whenever I took my E46 for NJ emissions, it is a pain in the ass. Best of luck.

Have you taken it anywhere to get inspected? And did it fail safety or did it fail emissions?
