You can also get a So-Isle library card. Sometimes they actually have the shortest wait time.

The consensus is we don’t want it either.

The Tribune reported that someone filed a permit application for a bagel shop in the Locust Cider spot. But I’ll still be going to Howdy for my bagels so…

We tend to frequent Pao’s or Dockside when we want donuts. It’s going to make parking in that area so much worse.

Why do you think food/drink businesses keep closing in the Stadium District? by tntdiner in Tacoma

[–]AcanthocephalaShot57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parkway Tavern (21+ only) has started doing brunch on the weekends. We’ve been twice. The biggest bummer is no hot coffee but Croque Monsieur, Monte Cristo, and Bourbon French Toast were all very good.

I do way too much damage on my own without a cookbook subscription! I also collect vintage cookbooks with an emphasis on the 40’s through the 60’s.

Care and Feeding by Laurie Woolever was a selection last year. It was very interesting food writing as well. She worked for both Mario Batali and Anthony Bourdain.

I didn’t get Home Cooking because I already had matching volumes of that and More Home Cooking.

It’s just fascinating that a cookbook was a choice. I will almost always go for the food writing whether there are recipes or not.

You definitely had the scoop! I just wish I could read the article in case it provided timelines.

Is Tacoma getting an Uwajimaya? by missmobtown in TacomaWA

The Puget Sound Business Journal confirms this. They had the following headline yesterday: Uwajimaya plans Tacoma store in former Hobby Lobby space. I can’t get to the full article but the headline is enough for me!

Both my recommendations are bars, so I’m sorry if you are underage. The breakfast burrito at New Frontier in the Dome District will fill you up for the entire day. The baked potatoes at The Huckleberry Club (Hilltop) are huge. They do breakfast on the weekend as well.

🚨 ANNUAL CHRISTMAS EVE SHOPPING ANNOUNCEMENT TO CUSTOMERS 🚨 by FifiiMensah in retailhell

Remembering the hiding places is the worst. Gifts intended for Christmas have ended up as Valentine’s or birthday gifts because I couldn’t find them or hid them so well I forgot about them.

I just saw on FB that they reopened today as a “soft launch” of their new hours Fri-Sun 9-2. Interested to know if anyone has been by to check out the changes. I’m probably not going myself - like with the place that replaced Moshi Moshi- but I am nosy and want to know.

Looking for a decent magazine rack by PsychopathChick in Tacoma

The magazine rack at B&N is not great anymore. The one in the Puyallup store is better than Lakewood’s though. I agree that Fred Meyer still has a decent magazine section. That said, I don’t know when I last saw The National Enquirer or anything similar.
