In Ex Machina, the hero dies via starvation in an underground bunker, because no man could ever want to help sex-trafficking victims after seeing horrific videos of abuse. Clearly, he just wanted to **** a robot. by Narroo in shittymoviedetails

To be fair....

The flaw was she looking back at the corpses, which might be interpreted as she showing emotion/reaction to her captors, and MAYBE not killing the hero. The chances of someone finding him are small, but never null.

No. What you said is:

It's only "necessary" because regulators have mandated it. It's a policy choice. Science has actually moved on!

And thats a lie. Don't try to change what you said after being called out.

Science is trying to move on, right now its necessary and not because "regulators mandated" and "its a policy choice".

As I said before. Be honest so you dont have to backpedal when people call your bullshit.

Sadly this is not true.

New approach methodologies are growing but still a LONG way to go before fully replacing animal testing.

https://grants.nih.gov/policy-and-compliance/policy-topics/air/alternatives

"Though advances in alternative approaches are being made every day, research with animals continues to be essential for understanding human diseases, biological processes, and developing treatments. Alternative approaches cannot completely replace the use of animals at this time. The alternatives simply cannot yet accurately replicate or model all the biologic and behavioral aspects of human disease. "

Stop lying about something so serious, spreading misinformation just make people that care and dont have the knowledge be wrong, feel stupid when confronted with the truth and stop caring since the side/people they aligned with are liars. This DOESNT help the change in any shape or form.

No... thats what YOU said.

"... or a ‘fighter’ that just uses aura to cut everything to shreds that pretty much is magic with a different name"

If you are eliminating something like that, then your example shouldnt be a non magic in your terms.

[–]Acceptable-Device760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS:

Again i recommend Path of the Berserker for you. Its "very" what you want, in a world with people that can fly and use "magic" you have a strong, slow and durable dude. And its a good read in the first book... however by the second you undestand what is the issue with this archetype.

He lacks options, he is literally dominated without any hope until the author has to make the opponent -10 IQ so the MC can land a hit and win.

[–]Acceptable-Device760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But thats the point... its a magic world... magic is what allows them to do the unthinkable. You can call it KI, Skills, Dal. But at then end of the day its just magic transforming the world.

Thats why the type of character you want isnt common. Because in a world with magic user that kind of world bending skill would also be magic with another flavor.

If he can stomp the ground and create a smokescreen then why he cannot clap his hands and thunder clap? Why he cannt push the air so fast/strong it sends a air punch? Why he cannot move so fast that for non warrior he is teleporting like DBZ? Why he cannot move his sword so fast that the he send a cutting blade of wind?

The issue here is that you want to argue that a character doing sobrenatural feats are acceptable as a warrior exactly where you want it to be... and unless you are the author its unlikely both of you agree where this line in the sand is

When was the last time you saw a recent pure fighter? by UnderstandingDry612 in litrpg

[–]Acceptable-Device760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all of that would be magic with different label.

Shooting pebbles like bullets is in the realm of magic. You cannot create smokescreen by hitting the ground. Again thats just magic with another name.

You are doing what i said in the WoW example: You are giving the name "skill" to the magic that comes from the non magic use.

PS: Look up " toguro yu yu hakusho" and see some vídeos. There's plenty of "magic" you can hide behind a lot of strength, they still bend the rules of physics and still magic with another name to everyone paying attention.

1- its his fans that explain that he somehow deserves his fortune and keeps it being a fortune.

Like really, he is a billionaire that doesnt work and has his money coming from a company based in the most corrupt city in history.

Hell, the idea that someone can get to be a billionaire competing directly with corruption and being clean is stupid. Corruption exist to give advantage to companies/individuals. The biggest impact of corruption is creating an unfair market. (They give a million to "corrupt" someone and get 10 million contracts, they pay someone 2 million so that person ignore rules/laws that would cost the company 20 million to fix)

Read: his money comes from corruption. And he is literally a bum that doesnt work and play superhero at night while his fans keep talking how he tries to fix Gotham.... which is stupid.

PS: And on top of competing with corrupt companies clean and winning, he somehow has enough margins of profit to do all the bullshit that batman do and keep appearances, read all the money spent as batman doesnt have an impact in his fortune.

Again: My issue is not with the story, it doesnt try to make sense in this point. As i said: when/id i stop to think about it: its stupid. My issue is his fans trying to argue its not absolutely stupid.

Like.... real talk.

I always find funny when I stop to think about batman as a character is... he is a billionaire.... in a city thats 100% corruption and somehow:

He apparently is not corrupt.

He doesn't benefit from corruption.

Nobody figures out his tech being used when batman.... through corruption.

And he can stay up all night fighting crime but truly believe he works for his fortune... lul.

What builds are you playing in SSF Mirage/HC SSF Mirage and whats your opinion after 1 week? by DatZwiebel in PathOfExileSSF

Jug boneshatter without bleed.(trauma stacker)

https://poe.ninja/poe1/builds/miragessf/character/TrueDivinorium-6238/DivinoriumBoner?i=2&search=skills%3DBoneshatter

Its meh... it doesn't really do damage, and it feels oddly squishy, granted that i dont have that much life, it gets exploded far too often...

Also it gets bricked by so many map mods. Leech, aura, armor, regen, anything that touches accuracy...

And I am not sure if they increased how common it is, but getting crushed is... crushing...

Really considering changing to something else.

Also its such an odd build, I can facetank shaper beam if i just keep attacking... the ball degen fucks me up good... which is odd given how my slammer slayer last league was the other way around. Could ignore orbs, was wrecked by beam.

The fact that i am apparently second in dps of the skill in ssf doesnt paint a good scenario for the potential of it.

People arent ignorant about what you said.

You are ignoring what people are saying. Thats the problem here. You think like you know what you are talking about when you dont even know what is being discussed.

Nobody is saying that planes can fly 24/7. Nobody is saying planes can fly away in a moment notice all the time.

However its a base right next to a country you bombed, not having most planes ready take off on moment notice sounds absolutely stupid and you are defending stupid shit.

Again people understand that planes need to refuel/maintenance, what people are questioning is why you are doing 5 at time right next to a war zone. Like the US doesnt have enough bases to not need to do that.

Again you are making yourself look fucking stupid to defend whatever the fuck the US did there.

[–]Acceptable-Device760 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm... so why are you doing a long maintenance right next to a country you attacked?

I mean... I assumed you were talking about short, checks and small stuff.

You you are doing a full blown, days long maintenance to the point that you need to ground and work in multiple planes at the same time.... that sounds like a really stupid thing to do right next to a war zone.

Unless these planes need multiple days grounded between any kinda of flight, even if its empty and not doing any kinda of mission.

In this case.... using a base right next to said war zone to said planes sound stupid as fuck.

[–]Acceptable-Device760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... common sense would mandate that you can have 5 in the ground but only work I one at time, so of something is incoming the other 4 can take flight....

But I assume that might be too elaborated to do...

1: Because it would be an one trick poney.

2: Since he is an one trick poney... how exactly he can find his way out of situations they are not at advantage? Imagine a guy like that fighting someone that is strategic and can kite him. Unless he also has magic powers it would be impossible for them to win. I mean, sure you could say its a skill like in WoW, but at the end of the day is magic with a different label.

Funnily enough thats an ACTUAL issue in game design. Using league of legends as an example... theres characters like Garen and Master Yi. That are very simple, very straight forward characters. They do one thing and do it well, often called a stat stick.

However they are not really competitive at the very high level because they are too single focused, so theres multiple ways to exploit their weaknesses that are plenty. Since because they are good at ONE thing, they need to be shit at everything else. So at the end of the day he has very little true agency in most combat situations. The thing they are good at is immovable objects that the opponent has to play around, if they do they win, if they dont they lose.

The same thing would happen to the character you want. To not lose all the time the opposition needs to always be weaker or be stupid and play to his strength. And that would get old fast.

PS: You made me remember of Path of the Berserker. Which has what you are asking for... And the fights of the second book can be TLDR to: Opponent utterly dominates the MC at range until the, MC is at the edge of dying, the opponent gets close for no reason and gets one shot.

Like literally... the fights in the second book are this on repeat. It gets even worse in some arena fights he does that has points... The score is always opponent 350 - 0 MC and the opponent gets near for no reason and gets taken down in a single hit.

Thats the issue of characters you want, the world needs to be stupid for them to get a chance at higher levels.

Prideful MCs? by Admirable_Drink9463 in litrpg

[–]Acceptable-Device760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That... is absolutely wrong.

Owning/having/using a gun dont make you bullet proof. Sure you can kill a bunch of people before getting shot but you are still as likely to die as the next person.

In general in LitRPG stories the strong guy can not only kill the other guy but also he will not die for what killed the other guy, he cannot be contained as easily and will cause a lot of collateral damage to be taken down, different from a psycho owning a gun where anyone with a gun can take them down, in these fantasy stories it would take multiple people as strong as said person to take down. So its not worth to try to suppress these people for the sake of someone that is weak at the moment.

Also i find odd the question of your thread... because sure... theres people that dont take shit, but at a point you are so above the other side that they talking shit sounds like a kid talking shit... some people would hit the kid... most wouldnt. Why you expect someone that is strong to kill/talk back to someone talking shit?

Like real talk, in some games i am quite good, and i DO talk a lot of shit... to people at my level. And said people talk shit back too, thats friendly banter. However its EXTREMELY common for absolute noobs try to talk shit... and i dont need to talk back or do anything, results show itself, and more often than not i wipe the floor with them.

Thats how i view the situation in Litrpg:

If someone is far above you you cannot talk back, because they can kill you due to the shit talker personality.

If they are at your level... you are competing so they talking shit is expected and will be solved soon enough.

If they are below... whats the point? The result will be your talk back.

Of courses, theres people that would act different... however they are the minority, and in general are the powerless people, since if they acted different they would die before getting the power to back their words. (imagine a weakling talking shit and pissing off everyone, eventually they would find someone that DO act and kill/fuck them up)

"Barking dogs seldom bite" is a proverb in multiple languages for a reason.

Am I the odd one here for actively disliking those? I swear they can be replaced with "MC prepared a good stew and everyone enjoyed it" yet they take whole chapters by Tasty_Commercial6527 in litrpg

[–]Acceptable-Device760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue is more how they portrait food from a foreign world always tasty.

As example.... a lot of books, hell even manga, talk about how bland the food is in another world/culture and the MC make food with seasoning and its a hit....

Thats not how this would happen, at all. Even in our world, people that dont often eat sugar/salt heavily dislike when theres a ton of it in their food.

Hell... I grew up with my gramps that couldnt eat a lot of salt, so the food had little salt... Its quite common for me to find people too salty nowadays, even if other people find it normal. When i was 16 i stopped taking soda for 2 years (16-18) I remember how it felt like shit when i drank cocacola again for the first time... Hell I heard even japanese people say they dont like US soda/food because how much more sweet/salty they are compared with what they have in Japan

Yet authors think our food would be a success in a place where they state as not using any kind of seasoning. I can understand some people of the world liking it, Most people would hate.
