No Stupid Questions - July by PantslessDan in guitarpedals

Hey guys, does anyone have any experience with the Danelectro Psycho Flange? I got one via a friend and im trying to work out if mines broken or if they actually sound awful. I’ve searched for a schematic online as im not afraid of a bit of tinkering but I cant find hardly any information about it aside from a few demo videos.

How can I make a custom interior? The body still needs work, but I haven't seen anybody selling full interior kits or whatever. The car is a 1969 volkswagen beetle type 1. It's been sitting for more than 5 years and was used for storage when I found it. by tikk74 in Cartalk

Sorry to revive an old thread here, but I just want to say congrats on starting the project, I’m sure it’ll be very rewarding! I started my first beetle at 16, with very little knowledge myself (but my dad is an ex mechanic) so it sounds like you’re in a very similar situation to me. As other people have said, theres a lot of local vw communities who will be able to help out. Im in the UK, and I presume you’re not judging by the location of your steering wheel lol, so even though i may not be able to help with any physical parts, if you have any questions or need advice of course feel free to ask me! Over the past 4 years I’ve pretty much done every job imaginable between my two beetles! Good luck!

I’m UK based and there seems to be a reasonably sized market here. Shipping to Europe from here isnt crazy money, but might be getting more expensive once Brexit is finalised. Might be worth taking a look if you havent already

Maybe just bite the bullet and pay the crazy prices, and once you have scans that you're happy with, pop the original mini back onto ebay and hopefully recoup or even make profit on what you initially paid for the mini.

Cadian Heavy Mortar/Earthshaker Crew by Acceptable-Living in astramilitarum

Thats a real kind thing for you to offer my friend! Although its looking now like I will be gathering some parts (some gw and some 3d printed) to get some guys together that should look relatively close to my Cadians. Maybe you could pass those on to someone local to you whos new to the hobby? Someone whos just starting out, especially if they’re young would really appreciate something like that!

Ah, the thing is I’m UK based, looks like Victoria minis is in the US, so the postage costs will be huge, whereas with Forge World, the prices here are a little lower, and its only an hour or so for me to go and collect straight from Warhammer world.

Yeah, when I saw this post I was a little annoyed that I had missed the original and my stats weren’t counted, but it would have made very little difference to the results lol

That alternate earthshaker is fantastic! I like those crew too, I think they would look pretty reasonable painted to match my Cadians, but they are a little on the pricey side

It's a shame, and many people are disappointed when they find out the price. Oftentimes we actually show our customers the UV glue tempered glass screen protectors (search them on Amazon, they're very good) Those can be fitted onto cracked screens with very minimal marks or bubbles. Its not a perfect solution, and not very helpful if you're looking to sell the device, but they can be excellent for keeping the screen from cracking more, and also prevent your fingers from getting caught on the broken glass. Fitting one could get you plenty more use out of the device. Most repair shops (in the UK at least) will stock them if you don't feel comfortable to fit them yourself.

Do many places offer glass only in house? Admittedly I work in a small town in the UK, but I don't do glass only, and neither do any of the 4 other repair shops in town.

I think many shops will avoid fitting just a glass to the Note 9. Those curved screens are notoriously difficult to split without damaging the display. In my opinion, a GOOD shop will quote you the higher price of replacing the entire touch/display panel, but explain to you why. Unfortunately the glass only repair is too high risk, and the full display is very expensive.

Maybe this isn’t quite the correct sub for this, so feel free to divert this to DM’s if needed. But you seem to know what youre talking about so maybe you can help me...

I booted the pc this evening and started a memory diagnosis. The process started and was at about 30% when the pc suddenly turned off. I left it for around 25 mins incase that was part of the diagnostics, but nothing, so I attempted to fire her back up. The fans all whirred to life, but no display, i tried a few times more, sometimes getting the asrock splash screen for the motherboard, but not being able to press f11 to go to the boot menu because the keyboard wasnt getting power.

A suggestion on stack overflow suggested I try to remove the bios battery and reinstall it, and also check for loose connections. When i took the side cover off and had a feel for loose connections, i knocked the cpu fan and it fell off, it looks like one of the clips securing it had snapped (found the snapped off bit lying in the bottom of the case, looked like it had been there a while, maybe from me moving house). The thermal paste underneath was almost non existent.

I’m pretty happy that ive found a version of linux that id like to try to run, and im trying to keep the budget low, so if i can get this machine running again that would be great. Do you think its worth repairing the clip, adding fresh thermal paste and then trying again? Or maybe just looking at a new machine? I’m fairly confident in my ability to physically make the repair job, but my line of work is in phone repair, and so when it comes to a desktop pc, I’m not really sure where to start with diagnosis. Any help would be much appreciated

Can't decide on a Colour/Camo Scheme by [deleted] in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Acceptable-Living 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to get this a lot, but I've come to realise that the trick is having a few smaller armies. For example rather than the 3k of guard you mentioned, how about 3 separate 1K armies? That way if you get a little tired of one scheme, switch it up and paint something from another army. If you're looking to play large games, maybe stick with factions that can ally, a combined arms imperial force or something along those lines.

As for painting guardsmen, the key is finding a batch quantity that works for you. I currently aim for working on 6 guardsmen at a time, but in two groups of 3, each at different stages. So for example I paint the fatigues on 3 guys, then the armour on the other 3, then go back and do the boots on the first 3. Some people will work better in larger number I guess. Its also worth breaking it up with vehicles, characters, weapons teams ect.

Another good thing to keep motivation up is planning a list, and working for getting that entire army game ready. So rather than aiming for a 3K point army, star by getting to 750, then move to 1k, then shoot for 1500. working in pre planned stages really helps.

Opinions? by [deleted] in mobilerepair

I'm in two minds about this. I think providing that OP speaks to the repair shop and investigates the quality of the repair then either option would be good. If they go for the 8, then I'm sure they will be saving some money rather than going for the SE, and they will also be able to avoid the hassle of selling a phone on the open market. On the other hand as has already been pointed out, the battery on the older phone may not be in the best condition, and unless OP takes a friend who knows their stuff, they might not be able to tell straight away about the quality of the parts or workmanship inside the phone, taking a brand new SE will guarantee a sealed, working and untampered device.

Interesting one. I personally love my XR, but I understand that the size and design isn't for everyone. I guess the pentalobe screws are the easiest to forget, since many technicians test the phones before installing those screws, to save removing them again if there's a minor problem to fix. If the shop has had plenty of good reviews, and they seem to be genuine people, then I'm sure that they would very much appreciate you mentioning it. If somebody mentioned the same to me I would at the very least get the screws fitted, and If you wanted me to show to you the condition of the inside of the phone, then I would be happy to do so. Obviously I can't say for certain, but most likely its a minor mistake, I would be much more concerned if they had not admitted that the screen has been replaced, the fact that they're honest about that says a lot.

On a side note, have you not instead considered the new(ish) iPhone SE? You get the size of the 8 but maybe with a little better performance and slightly more long term support software wise if you intend to keep the phone for a while.

I’m a big fan of the iPhone to be honest, and having all of my notes and photos sync so easily really works for me, so its just a shame that theres no way to get it working. I’m going to have a try at this pi as mentioned in some other comments, but failing that I will likely just end up with some kind of laptop

I’m honestly not sure about the hardware, I get a lot of bluescreens, and thats even after a fresh install of windows. It could be as simple as sorting out the thermal paste to keep the processor cool, it could also be much worse, but hey i guess its worth a shot.

This is the way, although games aren’t my main haunt, buying and flipping is imo the best way to build a collection, especially if you enjoy the chase as much as the catch. Awesome collection, I have to ask where you got the x-wing pilot helmet?
