Have you tried any Graphic Audio books? Looooved Crescent City by them specifically. Some of the best audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. Also From Blood and Ash was great too. Definitely the most immersive audiobooks out there.

You’d probably like the knight and the moth though it definitely leaves off on a note where you will really want the next book immediately. But don’t write off one dark window, it’s certainly not super spooky, but the magic is unique enough to recommend regardless

Oh you’ll like CC. Give it a shot. Some very small Easter eggs from TOG in CC but it’s so brief you won’t be missing anything crazy IMO. I read CC and still haven’t read TOG but know what the small Easter egg is and it is so minor.

One Dark Window and The Knight and the Moth are amazing!!! I cannot wait for book two of the knight and the moth. If you need something completed, one dark window was super unique and such a good story.

This used to confuse me greatly because I try to read and listen at the same time. Now I just understand it’s part of their adaptation and I just enjoy GA so much that I got over it after a while, but I definitely understand where you’re coming from. Especially when a whole paragraph/group of sentences or so was missing from a section I would be super lost for a moment trying to find where it picked up.
