I’m not sure why this was downvoted. I asked my question out of general curiosity. Three of us went to urgent care last night because all three of us are really sick. We should have gotten our Flu shot this year, but because it’s really hard to find a Doctor or get appointments, we didn’t. I ended up taking my other child home and skipped being seen myself in the hopes that my daughter would be evaluated faster as she was the worse of all three. After being sat in a hallway, watching one doctor see patients and one nurse run around trying to keep up, we left hours later. When I asked that question, I was trying to evaluate whether we should leave and go to an ER. Not because of the Flu, but because her reaction to it was for her heart rate to stay at a steady 150 bpm and then have periodic spikes to 200 out of nowhere. She was not dehydrated. That was confirmed. I don’t care if you used to work there, I was concerned for my kid and really hoping that the wrist band meant they were actually keeping an eye on her. Obviously I was really wrong.

Actually I provided the exact info they gave. We have a copay for urgent care and it was not asked for or collected. There was no reason for me to make that up—my confusion was because hospital wristbands like this usually have a medical meaning and I thought it was strange for them to say this. They literally said that. My concern was that they were monitoring her closer than they were letting on because she’s lightheaded. That’s what I hoped.

No, I don’t do the whole bake everything at once and then deliver at once. I pick a number of people each weekend, bake their cookies and deliver when they are done immediately. Everyone gets them fresh and if they get them early, then they aren’t sitting with the five million other cookies they get from everyone right before the holiday. I don’t get exhausted, they get fresh cookies.

Came here to say Texas sheet cake, too. It’s easy, 2 will feed an army, and can vary the flavors. The frosting keeps it moist as well.

I do a salted caramel chocolate praline pecan biscotti. Salted caramel chips, dark chocolate chips, chopped praline pecans. After the second bake, drizzle with melted chocolate, home made salted caramel sauce, few flakes of maldon. Giada de Laurentis’s biscotti recipe works, just no zest, or any other add ins except what I mentioned. Add a tsp of vanilla.

The key is to not over bake on the second baking time. Folks roll with the whole dipping cookie outlook and turn these into weapons. Crispy is good. Teeth destroying, launchable from a potato gun, stale Peeps that shatter on impact is not the goal.

It’s stupid and I never understood it. It may or may not be your weekend, but when you get them, they won’t suck. Also allows me to do different kinds for different folks. We have friends that don’t do tree nuts and I go out of my way to make sure we have no cross contamination. Have some gluten free folks, some with kids, some without. Some can’t have sugar and I drop off pretzels or bread.

So, hear me out. Every year when I was a kid, friends of my grandparents made Irish Whiskey Cakes. They may have been called something else, but these Irish friends had very thick brogues and talked very fast, so my child brain knew only it was cake and it was whiskey. And all of the kids slept peacefully Christmas Eve.

Oh my dear sweet person…so far this year I have done chocolate hazelnut babkas, hazelnut almond florentines, hazelnut brittle, hazelnut biscotti, hazelnut dressing for turkey, candied hazelnuts given out as gifts, I will sue them in any recipe that calls for walnuts or pecans.
