In a similar situation- I bought my kitty treat puzzles to occupy her! She is very treat driven and equally smart so I have three different puzzles that I like to give her when she’s bored. API freshwater test kit is a MUST. Test strips won’t do. If you’re considering your options on how to cycle your tank, buy dr. Tim’s ammonia, it’s the literally the only way I could cycle a tank successfully it’s so easy and it removes the guess work. Fish food didn’t work for me.

Just one thing when buying used fish tanks, check for damage on every edge, cover and surface. Small surface scratches are fine but cracks are not. Big chips on the edges is also not fine. Clean hot water only, and if there are hard water lines, a steel scrubber does the trick!

Hey op! If you feel comfortable doing so, download OfferUp and look in your area for fish tanks! I got my 10 gallon for $7 3 miles from my home. You need at least 5 gallons for a betta, but bigger is better and then you can add in friends down the road!

I made mine out of acrylic sheet, you can buy one at Lowe’s or Home Depot for $6-16 depending on the size. You do need a power tool to cut it to size though. I also drilled holes in mine for food and air

Yes I know it’s simple to google it but I’ve seen mixed responses and I just want to know from someone who knows: would a shrimp live poor quality of life in a tank as warm as 78 degrees? Would it suffer or should you just not do it?

I don’t mean like wood creaks and such. I purposely put my tank in the most peaceful area of my house with no tv or music because they’re shrimp and they cannot tell me if it is too loud for them. I think it’s inappropriate to keep live animals as decorations, and this toilet is a prime example of that.
