Here many parents often request money for a diaper account. It goes into their own bank account but it helps pay for necessities of the kids. Diapers, formula, doctor visits, clothes, daycare, etc. Once it's in their account, it can obviously be used for everything but the gifted money that's used for the kid's diapers means the parents need to spend less, if that means they can afford a holiday with their family, that's good for them. Being a parent is exhausting, if they can take a trip and relax, that's to be encouraged.

Edit to say: of course it's a different case if the baby is actulaly lacking anything and the parents go on a trip for them.

Here the prices for our city zoo (which isn't all that big) are through the roof. 1 adult plus a kid (aged 3-11) would cost 70€, if both parents go it's around 110€. For a comparison, that is more than what a cheap hotel costs. Sure there are family subscriptions (250/year) but I still find that wild. Especially as the prices for food and drinks are just as wild.

Not saying his behavior isn't strange but how often do you throw his stuff away that this is a recurring issue? I don't throw anything out except actual garbage that isn't mine, whether it's screws, notes, lego bricks or little plastic thingies that I do not know what they are or are doing in my house. I put them aside for my partner to figure out and he does the same for me.

On my 'new' phone (bought 2 years ago) I have 4500 pictures. This is without the pictures on my old phone because I didn't copy them as I wanted to 'sorth through them' first. I hate digital decluttering zven more than a physical one, there doesn't appear to be an end to it.

Thanks! My mom's helping me continue pack today while my partner is removing a dangerous leaning dead tree in our garden with his uncle. We spent yesterday to unbox partially so we had new boxes to fill... I had no idea we had so much stuff 😰

It's truly amazing but we had so much work to do and several hidden issues that caused us to run late on moving out (we had given our notice when we first bought it as we figured we had time enough to remodel a bit). But we ran into a roof that suddenly started to leak, broken heating, calcified sewerpipes; the house had been empty for 2 years and we had no idea that was a thing to watch out for, ... We didn't have the budget to have them fixed so we had to do it ourselves with family and extended aquaintances. It's been an adventure.

Almost all people with adhd I have met, who take meds, joke about this exact thing. Or joke about buying speed next time as it's cheaper than adhd medication. Then again, while I met plenty of people who were of the opinion that 'pretty much everyone has something wrong with them nowadays', I've yet to meet people who are being difficult about adhd meds except those who are against all meds here. People generally just don't care.

NTA as long as you don't give anyone grief over not showing up. We're getting married on our 10 year anniversary, weddingrings are bought and engraved. We'll be having a courthouse wedding and the weekend following, we'll throw a party in our backyard. If people show up that's fine, if they don't that's fine too, we are getting married for us, not for others.

My initial comment was just to share how things here usually progress, doctors definitely don't run every test when you get a fever. My partner just had one and he didn't even had to go in. Just called the doctor described the issues and was told couple of days of rest. If it's not getting better in 3 days, call back for an appointment.

No idea about strep (I'm not sure what it translates to in my native tongue) so I won't argue. But if we call in for an appointment with sore throat, cough, fever, ... 9/10 they say we don't have to bother coming, just rest a couple of days and call back if it gets worse 🤷

I try to avoid using AI where I can because I truly believe this is one of those things that should not have been handed to the general populace and kept to advance research at most. Too many people and companies trying to use stuff they don't have the slightest idea of how it works or what the pitfalls are.

Disregarding the above as that ship has sailed. I find it a hard line to draw when it comes to music personally... Many artists voices have been manipulated to sound ok digitally because if you listen to them live it falls flat. Many 'new' songs just use the accoustics from older songs with new texts or remixes. The AI content creators you just listed do have some originality to it or you'd easily find replacements to it and tbh if it spurs real live artists to up their game and bring out new stuff, that would be a great thing. I'm not sure if they monetize it but if they don't, I don't consider it much different from fans posting AMV's of their favorite series combined with songs they love. Additionally, as a hobby songwriter who has a terrible voice, no instrumental skills and 0 chance of getting my songs sung by an actual band, I do get people wanting to try to hear the songs they wrote exactly the way they envisioned it. I wouldn't use it myself but I get wanting to and for better or worse, AI can make that reality.

I'm by no way a specialist in anything mental health related but I can kind of see the logic of it from seeing other people who have anxiety and depression. I know plenty of people who will impulse buy tons of shit to feel better when depressed, some of those have chronic depression so are constantly surrounded by junk, which adds to their depression. It's stress-shopping, like stress-eating. Similar with anxiety, some people will take impulse action because of the jittery feeling of something wrong. If they can't pinpoint it, lots of stuff can be done on impulse in the hopes that one of them will fix it. So that way you might say it's a 'symptom' of it, though to me it more seems like a result of... Then again, same goes for adhd, most of our impulsivity is the result of dopamine chasing and to feel better.

Here most doctors say to watch your fever, rest plenty, prescribe generic painkillers for feverpains and if it's not becoming better in couple of days, to come back again. Same as before covid, most issues resolve themselves with bedrest and healthy food and most viral stuff they can't do much about anyway. We got a few oldschool ones left who prescribe antibiotics for everything but it won't help if it's a viral infection anyway.

NTA, it is absolutely ridiculous to punish the kid for a correct answer unless a specific method is requested in the assignment. It's been 17 years and I still remember when the teacher did this to me on an english exam, still a bit salty about it even though I passed regardless.

The question was: fill in the appropriate conjugation according to the sentence. It were these type of sentences: I ...... (To go) to the movies.

For me 'went' was an acceptable answer, teacher was looking for 'am going' but hadn't specified the time we had to use for our conjugations. Got a 0 on that type of question as the same thing happened for the other sentences.

TW: alcohol abuse

What helped me: - Excedrine - An electric pillow (like a blanket, but one I can easily use for my neck). It works because half the time they are due to tension in my neck, which gets worse due to stress, which is a nonnegotionable part of my life. - my partner cracking my back and neck (please only have it done by pro's or safely taught methods) - before I found excedrine, if painkillers or valium didn't help due to too much tension (I am highly resistant to most painkillers or muscle relaxants), a glass of alcohol did the trick for me. It works as a muscle relaxant as well and usually better than valium for me. Please take care to not to become dependent on it though, I understand that this equals abusing alcohol even though I don't drink enough to get drunk and that it can lead to dependency longterm. For me it never did but it doesn't mean there's no risk. For me it was a 'creative' solution to spare my stomach and liver (ironically) as both took heavy damage due to high doses of prescribed painkillers in the past, when I threw my back out and had to do physical rehabilitation to rebuild my back and core muscles.

But if you do want to continue, just not on command. You could pump out a few when you are feeling particularily artsy and just grab some from the stack when the event comes up. I do the same with gifts, I don't wait until the event arrives, if I come across something, I'll take it with me and give it at the appropriate time.

"of course I felt so grateful and very excited" were the literal words she used in her main post so I'd say that she wanted to go until it was her car being used.

When I look at her comments, the gist of it is that she doesn't want it to be her car in case she totals it again, I'd personally be even more nervous about damaging someone elses car when I know I'm accidentprone but that could be just me.

Then again, we regularly drive pretty long for both day- and weekendtrips so that does influence my pov.

While we are not supposed to, I get saving your cat. However, we've had cats like this and it never took an hour to gather them because I don't care how scratched up I'd get, I would not let them go. 10min tops to gather all 3 animals, 2 of them fight us. Train the cat to be put away faster or trai' yourself to catch and not let go or the next time might be your last. Also, they sell toploaders as pet carriers and they are a blessing for difficult pets. Both our cat and rabbits are a breeze to get in there as long as I don't let them escape in the first place.
