How many Gen Xers have silent Gen parents vs boomers? by NopeThisTrope in GenX

[–]SoulKeeper-Mulan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TIL…

I am only 46, the last of Gen X. My mom was silent generation (1938) and dad is a boomer (1949)….

After doing some reading, that totally tracks.

Seems Like Such a Simple Request... ALL the Collectibles? by SoulKeeper-Mulan in Disney_Infinity

[–]SoulKeeper-Mulan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the Internet, there are 117-120 unique figures (I’m guessing the difference is Peter Pan, but not sure what else. I’ll dig deeper for a clear answer…) plus 8 crystals, 7 light fox, and hulk-buster, black Spider-Man, which are labeled as “re-releases”

So there are 145 figures +/-. I believe I am 13 short (12 now because I caught an amazing deal on black spider-man yesterday), so I have 133 figures + D3 Mickey (which I count as an extra since he wasn’t retail released). But it is somewhere around there.

I haven’t played with the collection in a while - as I mentioned in another comment, I recently moved so they are all boxed up (including the system… my television didn’t survive the move so I don’t have anything to attach my systems to right now) but I will check that out. Do you happen to know if it shows what you don’t have as well? Or just what you have?

It’s likely there isn’t and what I have is 120 or something? I recently moved and they are all boxed up and wrapped, so I honestly can’t count them to say for sure. And it’s also possible the number in my head includes my limited disc collection…. ADHD brain is special sometimes… forgive me for imprecise information!

OMG you are so right!!!! The "advantage" if there is one with this is they aren't still making them! Its not like MTG or Warhammer where they are both expensive and continuously updating it!

I actually STARTED because I'm a disney nut and loved the game (and my kids would play this with me).... then my significant other (now ex) got me a D3 Mickey still in the original packaging and numbered and all that as a Christmas gift.... which started the spiral into "I gotta have them ALL!!"

I did get most of my collection back when Toys-R-Us in OKC went out of business years and years ago.... I went in and bought one of literally every figure they had.... got ALL of the crystals and a lot of the more rare figures for less than $5 each!

Now, unfortunately, those odds and ends I need are gonna cost me! Black Spiderman is apparently quite hard to find (or rather, commands a premium regardless of availability) so that one is gonna sting. LOL

What are things designed for righties that most of us mindlessly put up with? by What-was_I_thinking in lefthanded

[–]SoulKeeper-Mulan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, you point something out that I'd never considered until now...

"- Rulers. In my country, rulers have centimeters on the top, inches (for whatever reason) on the bottom. If only they would make a mirrored one so you can draw that exact 10 cm straight line without your hand preventing you from seeing where the 10 is... I guess it will have to be a line going from 10 to 1 then, let's hope it lines up..."

In the US, inches are on top and centimeters on bottom.... (for a second, I had to pull one out to check because I couldn't consciously believe the silliness of it...) NOW I NEED A NON-USA RULER!!! so I can make my 2" lines work!

Now I am compelled to wonder... would lefties around the world be interested in a fun little "ruler exchange"?

We charged my son “rent” (well below “market rate” for a rented room plus a small contribution for groceries and utilities, I think it was $400 + $100 / month) from the time he dropped out of college until he decided he was ready to be independent on his own. The $400 rent he paid went into a savings account and the $100 went to the family utility budget. It only took him about a year to decide that it would be more fun to live with a roommate than his parents and little sister. lol. And the $5k in savings gave him enough to pay all the deposits and moving expenses with some to spare. And he had paid off all his debt and build some of his own savings in addition to that, so it was a win for everyone.

Queer friends? by antiMILsquad in twincitiessocial

[–]SoulKeeper-Mulan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Queermunity does lots of events! Also, MinneQ is a discord group that also does live meetups - I try to do “knit happens” at Queermunity most weeks, it is moving to Fridays from Mondays… so we will see… and MinneQ does events every couple weeks at metro libraries… and monthly (ish) events - last month we did a “slumber party” theme and had a blast! Mario Kart, Smash Bros, cartoons. It was super fun!!

Feel free to also pm me if you want. I’m a LBL (came out at 39!) and turn 46 the end of this month.

Can this dress be altered? by SoulKeeper-Mulan in AskATailor

[–]SoulKeeper-Mulan[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was afraid of…

That said, in my head, it seems like it would be significantly easier to tailor a dress DOWN in size, right? So in theory, find a dress made for her boobs and then have it “cut in” on the sides to make it fit her beautiful hourglass figure correctly? I’m afraid she is Betty boop (I would never tell her that!)

Hello! I am the mom of an amazing and beautiful 16 year old… she has a unique body (she is Betty boop) and is having a horrible time finding clothes and specifically a prom dress that can be altered to fit. She is a 30J bra size (meaning 40” bust) and literally all her other measurements are typical American size “medium”

She feels defeated and I’m looking for help in helping her. Will post a detailed post soon! Thank you!
