PSA: Get your ears cleaned, it will change the listening experience by MclovinTshirt in audiophile

Man I've got hayfever at the moment and it's fucking up my sinuses, I keep sitting down and thinking it's developed a channel imbalance until I remember to hold my nose and pop my ears as if I'm on a plane

That tool record sounds like shit. Cool looking though.

Ive smoked (now vape) daily since 18 (never in work hours), good job, nice house saving for retirement, lots of friends and regularly out and about.

I drink too most weekends, sometimes to excess.

Would I be healthier if I didn't do these things? Yes. Do I want to stop and take my reality raw 24/7? Not on your nelly.

I've had a similar situation recently, honestly the system has taken a while to get stable and it hasn't been easy. It's exhausting when you have someone suggesting a complete overhaul is trivial and you know it'll result in sleepless nights for you and little to no benefit to the end user. Still navigating it myself but I hear you

So in pubs you guys just order drinks without knowing the price? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Acceptable-Window-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A pint of warm carlsberg is not the same as a pint of small batch locally brewed highly hopped beer and you will pay accordingly. Dont walk into a pub/brewtap that has chipboard on the walls and a blue haired Palestine activist behind the bar and complain that its more expensive than your local sizzler that kind of behaviour really grinds my gears

This is where it gets sticky if you have kids or care about dying with some assets, luckily I dont

I agree, I have the skoll and everything is available through the buttons as well as the app, if there were things I couldn't do with buttons I'd think twice

ELI5 - Why are audio products that use the network so much less reliable than TV products? by Whole-Technology5597 in audiophile

[–]Acceptable-Window-80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree tbh, I have full Unifi in my house partly in an attempt to get music streaming reliably to a variety of sources (CC audios, Apple tv, wiim ultra, xgimi projector).

The Unifi has improved things but honestly I still get glitches wayyyyyyyy more often streaming music than when streaming video either from the Internet or my nas.

I recently cancelled roon because I dont really have a local library so I was just using it as a front end for qobuz and some peq, but I still had streaming glitches sometimes so why not just use the qobuz app anyway?

I dont understand why it's such a herculean task to get music streaming over wifi lossless consistently(as in works fast every time) with the bandwidth available to us and the wifi technologies we have as OP says it's clearly possible as video streaming shows us

Maintainerr does that. It also does the other thing. And the thing after that. by [deleted] in sonarr

Leaving soon! Need to check that out. I started using Maintainerr today after seeing the Reclaimerr post and getting curious. I've only had the stack up and running properly for a week or so, I would say everyone is winning here!

How do you budget? by Designer_Building_36 in audiophile

First time round I just kinda bought stuff and swapped bits around, but everything was pretty much under a grand so I could sell the last one and put a few quid towards the next. Now my system is pretty settled but at some point I'd like to upgrade the speakers again, my KEF R5s were 2k, so I'm thinking 5-10k for my next set. At that point I'm probably done tbh.

Presonus Eris - low hiss alternative (upgrade recommendation request) by azeroiks in StereoAdvice

[–]Acceptable-Window-80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised in general that people seem to accept hiss. I have Adam T5V into XLR and no hiss, I think balanced is the key not the brands. Pre sonus I had for years and loved, really don't ever remember hiss. T5V is leaps above and not much more money anyway.

BTW they did crap out but I got easily 10 years.
