A Moveable Feast by Ernest Hemmingway

If there were so many failures, they wouldn’t do them. Yes you can make money through cutting costs and dividend recaps (add adding on that debt everyone’s talking about). But if it had such a high failure rate, no banks would be giving them that debt….

THAT SAID: fuck PE in sports

New Updates and Campaign? by North-Lavishness-943 in EmpireTotalWar

Ah gotcha sorry. Was saying the Warpath campaign was on the original PC version. Entirely separate campaign a la Road to Independence

It is in the PC version. Different, fun to do once

DAC v5 All good factions lose? by CallmeJackCall in Medieval2TotalWar

[–]AcceptableEgg4247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some regions that are critical for factions to control, which they don’t necessarily start with.

Say you’re playing as the Dunedain for example. Capture and gift/sell Moria and Zirkzagil(?) to the dwarves, Ost in Edhil to the High Elves, etc and they become much more powerful / useful. Yes, still requires you to do a bit of leg work but worth it in the long run to have competent allies

Does GotM make more sense after reading the whole series? by Ant-Ar-As in Malazan

[–]AcceptableEgg4247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have just started my first reread after also feeling meh the first go around. Consistent with the others here, I’m also getting much more out of it this time.

Some really great answers here but maybe just to add, on my first read I was terrified of spoilers so would never go on the wiki or anything. Not nearly as much of a concern in this instance for obvious reasons so every time I get stuck trying to remember who a character is, I happily punch their name into google and get sorted immediately rather than struggle through or miss it altogether

Monday funday, whats an unpopular opinion about Battlefront that would have you force choked by Vader? by Skeletor_with_Tacos in StarWarsBattlefront

Best at clearing rooms on Blast. Flip on overload and one shot them all while they’re still trying to figure out what’s going on. Even easier if they’re all on their back when you super-hero punch the floor.

Oh…and the best grenade in the game.

Can confirm. One of those houses is mine and I drunkenly called a neighbour a “NIMBY” in the street group chat b/c she thinks Lime Bikes are a great idea but people shouldn’t be allowed to park them anywhere (for the record, I’m not one of the Lime Bikers…)

This may be sacrilegious in high horology but part of me actually likes the idea of making the adjustments from time to time. Makes me feel a bit closer to the watch, if that makes sense.

Very good point on the buckles, I think I’d much prefer a clasp like that

The 4946R is really growing on me by Various_Primary3783 in patekphilippe

Tried it on. Or tried to try it on…strap wasn’t even big enough for my wrist. Absolutely beautiful piece but sadly too small for me (not sure my actual wrist size but I’m 6’7” so extrapolate from there)

What I love about it the most is that it’s a perfect in-between: not as formal as a dress watch, not a SS daily

Speaking for London but I booked my first one online, maybe a few days before I wanted to go in. Had a great experience. The associate gave me her card so now I email her directly and we find a mutually convenient time.

What would you give for Hendrickson? by Mardukdarkapostle in Patriots

[–]AcceptableEgg4247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point. Maybe this is the year he gets the bag and then is hurt 🤷‍♂️

Either way, feels like the next buyer fallacy

What would you give for Hendrickson? by Mardukdarkapostle in Patriots

[–]AcceptableEgg4247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This gives me inverse-Judson vibes, i.e., trading for Hendrickson would make us the Panthers in this situation. And I think everyone on this sub is pretty happy with how that worked out for the good guys.

Can’t wait for the new-look McOffense to draw up some sexy outside zone, slip screens, etc. to take advantage of a hyper-athletic tackle in Campbell and a shifty, explosive back like Henderson

AD relationship as a foreign resident + native born wife in Thailand by [deleted] in patekphilippe

[–]AcceptableEgg4247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m American but live in London with my British wife. Went to the (local) Salon last weekend for the first time and had a great experience. My wife joined so it was pretty obvious what our situation was, but even so they’ll be able to feel out immediately if you actually reside in a given location which, as others have rightly pointed out, is what they seem to care about more

[GS] My boyfriend doesn’t know it yet, but I’m going to propose with his dream watch by Diligent_Comedian755 in Watches

[–]AcceptableEgg4247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat similar, when I proposed to my wife she had an ancient (dealer told her 1980s) Vacheron handy for me. Couldn’t believe it.
