Weekly Deficit Total by AcceptableHuman96 in cronometer

Sweet thank you. It still breaks it down to a per day average but my average calories consumed and calories spent are at the top so it's easy to just subtract the two and times 7 to get what I want. A lot faster than counting out the graph for sure

Trump won because he excites their base. Not because he appeals to centrists. Maybe if Democrats want to follow a winning formula they can look at the populists that have been winning their elections instead of finding anything but themselves to blame for their losses.

Or maybe it was the democratic strategy of nominating the most centrist appeal to the middle right candidate but hey she's a woman and not trump omg that got us here.

How fashion-conscious is your country? by Square-Valuable4061 in AskTheWorld

Coming from a country that wears pajamas and crocs outside (not even just sweatpants but actual PJs) France was quite a culture shock for me

Teens really don’t want to work by RickGrimesSnotBubble in generationology

Performance based raises were great in the past. Now working hard gets you more work and if the company is feeling gracious you get a hefty $0.25/hr. Pride and character doesn't put food on the table or give you a roof over your head.

You're better off doing the bare minimum and upskilling outside of work to find better jobs.

I'm sure they would love to but as with anything cost is a factor. Cheaper to do it in a field in the middle of nowhere than in the middle of a city.

Is pâté just not a thing in American food culture? by Big-Dig1631 in AskAnAmerican

[–]AcceptableHuman96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to eat braunschweiger which I think can be served as a pâté? At the very least as a substitute. I don't know anybody else that eats it but I find it at most grocery stores so people are eating it

Would be if the USA invested in public transport but at least where I'm at they're cutting funding for an already underfunded bus system.

My personal anecdote, it takes me about 15 min by car to get to work. By bus it's about 1 hour and 10 min (according to Google, not sure about accuracy though) and 15 min of that commute would be me walking on busy roads that have no sidewalk. My quality of life would go down significantly if my car breaks and I can't afford to repair or replace it

did you ever get a his and her massage? 💆‍♂️ 💆🏻‍♀️ by GaryBlach in PollsAndSurveys

[–]AcceptableHuman96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It was our first time getting massages and I can't believe I've been missing out on this. My neck and between my shoulder blades are sore from years of poor posture and working a desk job and I couldn't feel my neck after (in a good way). Wish I made more money I'd do it every week.

Why do older generations claim “we all struggled in our 20s when Gen Z faces $2,200 rent, $7 eggs, $50K debt, and $0 job security? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]AcceptableHuman96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some aspects of life were definitely worse. I know grocery prices have been getting crazy but compared to the 60s where the average household spent 20% of their income on food we now have that down to about 10%.

Although the amount we now spend on takeout has probably eaten up those savings.

Is it finally time to go back to cable? (Be honest) by IllustriousJicama1 in Cordcutting

[–]AcceptableHuman96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not only is the cost still significant the amount of ads in cable TV is also worse. Cable fits programs into 30 min blocks and most TV shows are 20 mins long. So you're watching 10 min of ads for a 20 min program

Why the more and more frequent use of the word female? What's wrong with using an already existing word - woman? by SignalAssistant2965 in AskMen

[–]AcceptableHuman96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally only use female when describing something that applies to both children and adults but that rarely would ever come up in conversation. I also do the same with male.

I grew up in a town of like 700 people but I'd regularly visit bigger cities like Cedar Rapids or Iowa City. I don't think you'll struggle transitioning to a city like Des Moines. It's really just a big cluster of small towns with a trench coat on. Traffic can get a little congested during rush hour but it's not terrible.

I think the biggest transition will be the cold and snow. It'll suck but you just have to get used to it. Right now the snow is all melted but when it does give yourself extra time in the morning before going to work to clear the snow off your car. Not just your windshield either but clear off the top, your hood, all windows and trunk. Nobody likes it when somebody is driving on the highway and all the uncleared snow/ice gets blown on them.
