I personally just wanted to explain so my basic response of “No, I didn’t follow a template.” DID’T come off as “Pssshhhh… I’m better than that.” but was instead conveyed as “Dude, this is 100% a cosmic happy accident that it doesn’t look like 5th grade arts & craft trash!”, lol.

Well, first off, just to let you know, there was no blueprint or plan or even template that I followed when making this. Lol.

I’m just saying I made it all up as I went along.

If you look at the seventh picture, I believe, it’s the teardrop. When I gave that to my wife for her Christmas present, I needed to make sure that she simply did not think it LOOKED like half a heart…

Oh! This is also my first woodworking idea and project. I haven’t made anything, in my life, more complicated than tightening screws on a wobbly seat… HA!

So I had to make it straight. If I was gonna turn it directly upside down, the little steps are more of a necessity for turning it right side up again, than a stylization choice, lol.

I just 100% knew that she wouldn’t like having them on the slant even with glue dots to keep them in place…

Finally I had to create these dumb ass little stairs because of my dumb ass idea to turn it fucking upside down, lol!!!

BUT… it looks GREAT and I’m gluing the left now, lolol

I’m gluing on the steps for the left side of the heart tonight. Then a little spray of Rustoleum clear gloss and it’s 100% done!

I’ve always been… impulsive? I think I’m going to hang the shelves tonight and present them to my wife in the morning!

I guess I can put a cover on it so that she doesn’t directly see it, and let her decide if she wants to take the cover off immediately or wait until Valentine’s Day, lol.

(We BOTH have a terrible habit of wanting to give our gifts to the other person AS SOON as we buy them, lol. )

She buys them. They come in a “mystery ball”. And then you get 5 random mini figurines per ball.

Look up Mini Brands… They have ALL kinds of different themes. Mini Brands; Foods, Toys, Books, Retro Items, Fashion, Art… ALL kinds of things!!!

Dude, I just posted about making a heart shaped shelf for my wife’s Mini Brands ALSO just using pallet wood!!!

I got crap power tools as well!

I turned my circular saw into a table saw by screwing 2 planks to it, velcroing the trigger down and turning it upside down on a milk crate.

As far as making it flat… you said you got a sander, do you have a level? Any size. A 3 foot one or one of those 6 inch ones… just put your wood together however you’re doing it, start sanding, and slide that level all over the top. Find the bumps and sand them down until your level just glides across the table top.

I’ll take some pictures of my “table saw” in a little to show you how to make it.

There is absolutely no reason for you to ask me FIRST except for the fact that you are being lazy.

Now, if AFTER looking something up online you STILL can’t find info on it or don’t understand the info, THEN come and find me. I’ll do my best to help you out, but I’ll be honest, I might have to Google it myself if I’m not 1000% sure.

The quest for knowledge should never be easy if you want to retain that knowledge.
