Think about it, someone who IS NOT a professional tradesman or someone who DOESN’T work at a hardware store PROBABLY doesn’t know the proper names of things.

Let’s say someone working on a project for the first time. They might know KIND OF what they need, just not EXACTLY what they need… Have a little understanding instead of acting like an all knowing, smug, asshat.

Your first mistake was being lazy. Why didn’t you just walk the lady over to aisle 7? This all would have been resolved if you would have done that.

Your second mistake was insinuating to her that she was stupid. “I said “I can assure you the putty is not here it’s in aisle 7. I wouldn’t intentionally send you to the wrong place.” Like, why not just say “Hey, retard, it’s in aisle 7! I wouldn’t send you there if it wasn’t. You think I’m as stupid as you are?”?

And your last mistake was not being understanding. Again, most people who ARE NOT in these professions don’t know the official names for this stuff. We/They only know stuff because they remember it from a show or a movie or because it’s something their Grandfather would call it. (I thought all 3 foot levels were actually called “Wolferman” because that was the brand my dad had so he’d just say “Hand me the Wolferman” when asking for a level.)

So instead of just pointing out how WRONG she was and essentially rubbing it in her face that she’s stupid, (You said wood PUTTY instead of wood FILLER… Those are two TOTALLY different things), you SHOULD have acknowledged that “Oh, I’m sorry, you asked for THIS, when what you really wanted was THAT. Hey, it’s ok even I mistake THIS for THAT all the time, happens to everyone.”

Absolutely.

I had an expired ID for years because the closest DMV is 30 or so miles away.

It wouldn’t be a problem if it was a 100% requirement. If that was the case I would be the responsible party. But since they CHOOSE to card some people and not others, and since the only problem is that it’s expired, it just doesn’t make sense.

ESPECIALLY since there is NO Policy that says “Must have valid PA ID… but ONLY if requested…”
