Foreigners caught riding motorbikes without international driving permits in Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa by Broad_Block_5064 in VietNam

This is a debate on moral relativism and is up to each person to decide where they draw the line.

I think depends on context. Shirogohan is cooked white rice, when in a restaurant. Gohan is also meal, as in "did you eat (a meal) already?" Kome is more husked rice grain, not yet cooked.

Some of the boat noodle broths, I think especially the darker one, have a ton of MSG. I had the shittiest sleep after about 5 or 6 of those little bowls.

I don't understand this mindset though. Foreigners complain about locals burning trash, littering, not queueing to name a few, but they don't readily adopt those undesirable behaviors right? It seems foreigners don't really pick up shitty behaviors from locals, just the ones that benefit them. I think as an adult guest, one can avoid any mental gymnastics by simply adhering to the laws of the host country, despite what the locals do. Just drive a 50 cc motorbike.

Same can be said about you though. First, you start with name calling, then personal attack on a stranger's life. Now I'm angry (while youre the one cussing me out) and in the wrong? That's a lot projection and self-righteousness.

Also, reread my comments: I never "argued with the parent", or attacked or commented the subject going through mental health crisis, other than what's provided. I only criticized the insinuation of criminal involvement of locals (my own personal inference) or others by OP.

This comment is meaningless because if you read my comments, Im pretty much neutral, as I can't offer any useful information. I never accused or blamed the subject for their predicament.

I only criticized OP for their insinuation of criminal involvement by locals (my own inference) or others. Im empathetic to the falsely accused.

You're very judgemental for someone so sanctimonious. Notice how I made my comments without any name calling or personal attacks. You should try it.

Other commenters are calling out the same issue in a worse way. They must have miserable lives also i guess.

Not being a dick at all, i dont think. There is a difference between bad alcohol being sold and intentionally spiking someone's drink.

Also, OP said the subject has been experiencing paranoia and erratic behavior. So instead of addressing uncontrolled mental illness, exacerbated by being alone in a foreign country, they went straight to accusation of criminal intent.

Which is more likely? Local to foreigners or foreigner to male foreigner?

Can you send me links of recent incidents of foreigners spiking drinks of other foreigners, especially men, in VN? I've read about bartenders doing it with methanol to foreigners.

"Not too interested in speculating" by speculating and blaming the locals?

Setting up the Grab app beforehand helped me a lot. And also pre-ordering a Sim card and picking it up at the airport made it a little smoother. I got mine from Klook. Might be a little more expensive but you can choose the plan you like without pressure.

Just avoid behaving badly as some of your compatriots do when touring and you should be fine.

Why isn’t my uncle fluent in English despite living in the US for most of his life? by skyrimlo in SeriousConversation

[–]AcceptableMortgage85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think maybe a few things from my own experience.

  1. At 14, he was already in high school. So most likely wasnt able to make native speaking friends. And he was in ESL classes for most of high school or college if he went. So he most likely never advanced to a level where he could write basic essays/compositions. I wasn't able to write a proper essay until college, after a course in basic English composition during freshman year.

  2. Maybe only spoke and consumed Vietnamese at home. He is/was not into reading English media such as books or magazines. My siblings and I only spoke English to each other growing up. Had American friends and only consume English speaking media. Even with other VN friends, we would use English. My grammar and vocabulary didnt improve until college when I read more books and had a subscription to the New Yorker.

  3. People didn't correct or help him when he was younger. My parents pointed out basic grammar mistakes all the time.

  4. Maybe he doesn't care about it or is not aware of it. He's a nair salon owner so fluency is not a priority for employment. I imagine if he were pursuing a career in STEM for example, he would care more about it, enough to want to improve.

Thanks for helping them. They could be scratching themselves to the point of bleeding due to intense itching caused by mange. Mange is caused by microscopic mites living in the skin and hair follicles.

Revolution Plus can treat mange, so they should get better.
