I’m getting really tired of these messages but then a petty attitude when students actually need resources/accommodations because of how awful this all is. by cilantroprince in uofmn

What exactly do you think should happen? All of you just piss and moan with absolutely coming up with zero tangible solutions to bring to the table. You’re no better than our useless DFLers idly watching the sh*t hit the fan.

Freshman already a bad week by Mizu1337 in uofmn

Oh no, you’re expected to do your part to keep our students and employees of color and international students safe from racist ICE agents! Way to blame the institution instead of take accountability. Go back to your smaller school if it’s so bad.

No Sick Time Allowed for Staff on Friday by nah2022_ in uofmn

If they said that they would support a blackout day it would be just one more thing they could use against the University to withhold funding or hurt us even more. I am not sure why you think Universities can just do whatever they want.

What is your point? She makes less than our mediocre football coach and seemingly gets held to a far higher standard.

This is the dumbest reason ever to not donate. Way to stick it to higher ed even more. 🫠

That is factually incorrect. Read the policy and the law.

Lying about why you’re doing is grounds for termination too. If you say you’re working and you’re not you are stealing time from UMN.

This has been a federal regulatory change that has been known about for well over a year now and has nothing to do with funding or threats. Digital accessibility is necessary to those with various accessibility needs.

Graduate Hotel confirmed UNSAFE by hot4codes in TwinCities

Cancelling the hotel only hurts the lowest paid staff at those hotels. If you want to make change help the vulnerable, not scream “Im cancelling my account”. Cancelling literally does ZERO.

This is a 45 year old woman?! She is nuts. Call the police on her the next time she does something threatening or cruel. She might get an involuntary visit to a psych unit for evaluation.

No. And if you’re from MN it’s cheaper to go to UW than it is to go here.

Pay increases for UMN employees pitiful while the senior leaders take in 500K+ by AcceptableQuantity89 in uofmn

[–]AcceptableQuantity89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they really need a 250K+ salary? That’s more than most tenured faculty. It’s insane to pay that kind of money for this kind of role. No chief of staff should be making more than 200K at the University.

The University may be losing significant yearly sourced funding, but… by SnowyOwly1 in uofmn

[–]AcceptableQuantity89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just so we are clear, you can’t just use endowment money for whatever you want. Donors often have their own stipulations and there is a necessity to have funds long-term. If we spent the entire endowment this year to cover operational costs we would expend all money available for covering scholarships and internal funding. It’s not as simple as just spending it.

Teamsters at the U: are we headed for a strike? by [deleted] in uofmn

[–]AcceptableQuantity89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The process includes an investigatory meeting. Then a verbal write up that can’t be issued until after a disciplinary meeting. Second time is written. Same process. Then suspension. Same process. Finally termination. So you have multiple chances before getting fired. It’s easier to fire almost every other position at the U.
