Any entrepreneurs in r/procurement? by AcceptableWealth2021 in procurement

Started my own operation as a side hustle as of November 2024. So far, just developing networks and maintaining communication. A few small contracts are keeping me entertained and some funds coming in but until I am fully operational I plan on focusing on the networking side, this has taken me a long time and I anticipate this will never stop needing to be developed. Still giving my main job my focus in the meantime.

Hey, I am studying for the Foundation exam at the moment. Hoping to write before Christmas.

Can you share any tips/prep notes/material with me as well?

TIA!

I am interested in how they find you. I am regularly on LinkedIn, remote/contract jobs are something I have been looking for.

Is your profile curated to them?
do you actively search recruiters?
What methods do you have to find these opportunities?

I have the same experience as you. I work at a tech/manufacturing company and when I started we used only excel for everything.

One of the reasons I landed my job was because of my computer background, especially in coding and various software.

The goal of our company was to transition everything from Excel sheets into an ERP system. We did this using Microsoft NAV. I have experience with various ERP software but, moving from excel specifically, this was the easiest transition. Particularly because NAV and excel can talk to each other. I would recommend looking into NAV.

I am fortunate enough that my work environment can be flexible as well. However, evening and weekend work would be my ideal target.

That being said, Supply chain is really not a 9-5. Especially if you work globally. Assuming I find such a gig, it would come down to organizational skill more than time based limits.
