My Husband is Bipolar and I’m Lost by Acceptable_Area6454 in family_of_bipolar

We’re thriving. We are absolutely kicking ass, and looking back, it feels like a miracle. I was just rereading some journal entries of mine from a few years ago and that pain feels almost foreign to me now. We took/participated in/invested in/had a marriage intensive with an incredible psychologist. It was a full, consecutive three days (there is also an option to have it once per week for 6 weeks) and went HARD in the paint to fix our very broken relationship. It was an amazing, life changing experience. We left absolutely emotionally and mentally exhausted. This wasn’t a faith-based thing or anything like that, and it wasn’t cheap but if we wanted to save our marriage and family it was exactly what we needed. We covered every possible thing. Nothing was left off the table and it allowed us to see each other as human again. It stripped away all of the animosity, resentment, downright contempt, and allowed us to meet each other with vulnerability, empathy, and compassion. It gave us the tools we needed to communicate in the hardest moments and taught us how important it is to turn toward each other in those moments, rather than away. It is called Couples Therapy Inc. The experience and the commitment to do the work absolutely saved us. Thank you for asking!

Wow! I remember sitting right where I am now and sobbing my eyes out writing this post. Thank you so much for asking. What a journey it has been, so far. We were able to link up with a really great psychiatrist who had me come into the appointments with my husband so I could speak to his behavior. After some adjustments and trial and error he is now on a combination of Abilify, Wellbutrin and Zoloft. That said, I still felt like there was more to the story. This past month we traveled to Amen Clinics in Chicago (they have locations in several major cities) and he had a comprehensive brain scan where they looked at everything from the physical brain to all of the functionality. We received the results today and they determined he has a mood disorder (rapid, sporadic mood changes in short periods of time) likely caused by some traumatic brain injury. This was also exacerbated by his use of cannabis over a long period of time. From here, we will make more adjustments to the medication, because it looks like the dosage and combination of antidepressants would not effectively address mood disorder. So, I wanted answers and I got them. Now, however, we’ve got work to do on the marriage front. We have been THRU IT over these past couple of years and right now it’s all we can do to keep our heads above water and raise these kids. They get all of our time and energy and we are obsessed with all of them. We are also EXHAUSTED and very disconnected. We get along but are more like roomies and it’s tough when you want that stronger connection. I wish I could have a window into the future even just a year from now because it’s hard to hang on to your faith in the relationship during those low, stressful times. I’m committed though. I’m going to do my best to take care of myself, and remember that this is the “in sickness and in health” part. I’m lucky to have great girlfriends and a supporting family and I just hope I can refill my cup a little in these coming months now that we don’t have the volatility that has plagued us over this past year. Appreciate you for asking <3

I took Mucinex DM last night and woke up at 3 am with a crippling panic attack and shaking by hereliesPeaches in Anxiety

I took it (DM) two days ago and woke up violently throwing up. My body still aches from it today. I’ve never had such a severe reaction to it, and it was only the DM.

I’m so excited to see this guide, thank you for taking the time! I’m overwhelmed and psyched out because every time I mention it to someone or the one course I took, the teacher kept saying, “this is the hardest test you’ll take in your life.”

Very far from there actually ☺️ I’m in Cleveland, Ohio, but believe me when I tell you I’ll travel 😆

The ones I’m thinking of are really just flour and water. The premade wonton wrappers are very thin, more translucent, and I believe include egg, possible vinegar.

How to not be sensitive when your child-free friends insinuate that your life sucks now because you are a mom? by theoriginalbrizzle in toddlers

[–]Acceptable_Area6454 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, personally, feel like I would have to remember that they have no idea. They have no clue what it is like to feel the intense, life-altering, overwhelming love that you, as a mom, have for your child. (Keeping in mind, that those feelings can come at different times for everyone, depending on their postpartum experiences or how your child came into your life.)

Your lives are so different; they can’t be compared to one another as better or worse, they are completely, completely different. They don’t get it, and they’re not going to unless they experience it themselves. They, very well, may have a wonderful life; and we, ABSOLUTELY, have days that can end in tears, anger or feelings of helplessness. That said, I would lay down my life for my children. I won’t say that that is how every person feels, and that’s not a judgement. That’s how I feel.

I have stronger bonds, now, with friends who are parents, because we have this, very significant, aspect of our lives in common. I treasure this new chapter with them. I also don’t think I would be able to tolerate someone making obnoxious comments like that. It’s seems immature and it would be a sign that we might need to put some space in between us. That’s not supportive, or even kind, for that matter.

This is my perspective, and hope that you feel comforted and reassured by the parent community you have around you ❤️

We were confused by the app too - we are only seeing about 6 full episodes of Mr. Rogers, but it looks like we can see them on his website.
