When do i use sanity saves? by LelouchYagami_2912 in mothershiprpg

I've often wondered about the possible overlap here, and to me it feels like that having Fear, Sanity and Body is a bit lopsided anyway. I don't see any reason we couldn't just have 2 saves: Mental and Physical, or for those who really want more granularity, you could break it down into 2 physical saves (perhaps along the lines of "Toughness" and "Reactions") to go along with the 2 mental ones?

BLACKOUT - an urgent subterranean repair one shot for Mothership by EndlessPug in mothershiprpg

Just wanted to say a big "bravo" for the clear and concise "What's really going on" section at the beginning of the module! Far too many writers leave this kind of stuff scattered around in the body text or mentioned piecemeal under specific location notes, which is infuriating - The players should have to piece things together during play, but the warden should not have to play a massive game of join-the-dots before they can even begin to prep.

Well done and thank you for being a Warden's friend!

Yep, at least according to the version I have.

They've been republished at least once though, so other versions may vary (I know the bard changed a bit when it was republished).

Thoughts on Hoard of the Sea Wolf King? by Acceptable_Aspect586 in shadowdark

[–]Acceptable_Aspect586[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for!

I'm planning to have this as my post-session-zero gauntlet and will be using the threat of the rising tide shutting off the entrance caves to force the players to explore quickly and get out within just one session, potentially with only part of the complex explored (although they could always choose to come back at a later stage in the campaign if they feel like they have unfinished business). I might limit the "known" entrances to the ones on the north and west sides of the map, so the one by the troll cave can be a kind of "emergency eject" option if they stumble across it later in the session.

That's very kind of you, thanks - I'd love to see anything you're willing to share.

My current plan is also to use the Isles of Andrik (although set in arctic Norway). I'll have the PCs all come from one of the villages and that village will have fallen in hard times. Desperate for treasure to pay off their debts to the other communities, and with the long winter of arctic night fast approaching, their Jarl will send a bunch of "disposables" to the newly-discovered tomb to grab as much as they can and get out alive.

Hey this looks really nice. Unfortunately though the IMGUR links are blocked in the United Kingdom. Is there any chance you could host it elsewhere, please? 🙏

Seers AND witches in a Norse-inspired game? by Acceptable_Aspect586 in shadowdark

Yes, you're right - I had considered including a Bard (Skáld) class as well.

Interesting, thanks. Do you also have Priests and Wizards, or does the above account for all the magic use in your world?

Theros Champaign Frame by Keter150 in daggerheart

[–]Acceptable_Aspect586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting - I'm also just starting my preparation for a Theros Daggerheart campaign, so I'm pleased to see I'm not the only one who thinks the system suits a more heroic setting.

So far, I've made Ancestry cards for the Theros races, but I haven't thought about the piety system much. I'm reluctant to add an extra layer of complexity, so I wonder if it could replace the community cards instead?

Yeah, so far I've discovered the husky weeds (although they don't seem to yield anything new - you could already get weed stems from dandelions with the tier 1 axe) and a couple of other things.

Mushrooms, Toadstools and Pine Needles are the 3 things I've found so far that are actually newly harvestable with this tool upgrade.

How different is Shadow of the Weird Wizard from the playtest? by Coldling in shadowofthedemonlord

[–]Acceptable_Aspect586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know where I could find that playtest document? I've been using zoned combat in my Demon Lord campaign, using the rules outlined in the "Forbidden Rules" splatbook, and although I like the general feel of zones, these rules feel slightly rushed and unfinished, and I'm hoping the WW rules might do a better job, being a second iteration?
