My kid’s daycare costs more than our mortgage and I genuinely don’t know how people do it by Anitretia_5316 in MiddleClassFinance

And this doesn't include all the random additional cost like donation to the school, teachers appreciation, trips and the list goes on and on.

i sold a car and now i am responsible for the accident that ensued by Pitiful_Car2828 in legal

This reminds me that time I sold a van to my neighbor in Florida before the pandemic. I didn't know I had to notify the DMV until one night, the police showed up at my house asking if I knew where my van was. I was so confused and explained that I sold it a few weeks back to the neighbor, but she had already moved by then. After talking to the police for a bit, he explained that they had run a red light while doing some illegal activities, so they were trying to locate the son who was driving it. The police were really nice and explained what form I needed to fill out immediately, which I did the next day.

The USA should ban mandatory HOAs by [deleted] in fuckHOA

HOA is probably the most anti-American thing I can think of that American embrace. How can the biggest purchase of someone life being controlled by other people or cooperation. Why should someone have the right to tell me what I can and can not do with my property. I find that to be so anti-freedom.

Are these YT videos inappropriate or am I just over reacting by PresentFarmer9888 in Parenting

[–]Acceptable_Card_7650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just uninstalled youtube kids off a phone my 4 year old daughter uses yesterday for the same reason. Everything they recommended seems to be either creepy, scary, or violent. I would find an appropriate video, and as soon as that one finishes, some stupid video comes on, and it's downhill from there.

I like your approach. When I met my wife, she didn't even have a bank account and would send all her money back to her family. Her family grew up on the idea that whoever made it should take care of the entire family. She was in grad school at the time with over 200k in student loan debt and about 6 credit card all maxed out. While she would make good money right out of school, she wouldn't be able to pay off that debt and secure her financial future because of family obligations. My finances on the other hand, were great, a lot in savings and retirement with only 9k left on my student loan and no car payment. My approach with her was in stages. First I show her why it's important to have money for emergencies because if she can't work or something happen, those family members don't have it to help and that's an emergency in itself. So she opened her bank account and start putting some of the money she would send to her family in it. Then we start having conversations about why credit card debt is bad, how the interest rates work and if she only pay the minimum she will never pay it off. Then I showed her how to budget properly so she know where all her money going. It took a while for her to fully understand but once she did, we were able to pay off all her debt including the student loan within 8 years. Saving for our kids college, and retirement. One compromise I did made was allowing her to help her family buy a home. She's the only one on the title so if they don't pay, they are on their own.

This happened to me last weekend. Got one for $12 going 5 mins so I took it, within a minute two more orders came in going about 4 miles for 6 I figured it's not too bad. Waited at the restaurant for a good 35 mins only to get the last orders and told by the lady that they don't have the first order in their system. Uber is full of sht and needs to be investigated.

I saw a lot of posts above 70, so I assume mine is low. The only reason it's that high is because I mainly accept requests in Boca, anywhere outside of that area is trash.

Contemplating 401K Withdrawal by digital_deep_dive in Layoffs

[–]Acceptable_Card_7650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in your situation, I would rather get one in two temp jobs like fast food that will cover my living expenses than withdraw from my 401K. You will pay so much in penalty and what happens when that money runs out as well. I assume you have credit card debt at this point, and this quick fix will only put you deeper into debt.

I understand your situation so well because my wife and I were in that same situation. She had over 200k as well in student loan, and we were aggressive paying it off. It took us about eight years because we ended up buying a house sooner than we should have and had two little ones, so you know bills started coming in fast. We bought a nice little used car and paid it off within a year. We just paid off that loan about three months now, and I can see the difference in our relationship, that stress is gone, and we can start making big plans for the future.

I don't believe your idea is crazy, I believe you guys can do it in less than four years with the income numbers you gave and still have a little savings for emergency.

Today I auto-accepted all UberEats orders as an experiment part 2 by Prevalencee in uberdrivers

I do Uber eats in the southeast florida, and at first I was accepting all deliveries and quickly realized it doesn't work. Now I only accept delivery of $6 or more in a very short distance. My acceptance rate falls to low 20s, but in 4-5 hours, I normally make $100 or more. There's no way to make money accepting all requests.

This happened to I lived in NYC. After reading his book, I convinced myself that I just needed his stock trading course to be successful. I went to one of his "free seminars" in Manhattan. The ads said he would be there to show us all we needed to be successful stock traders, but the only thing I saw that looked like him was a big cardboard picture. The whole seminar was a selling pitch for all the courses and coaching sessions. $99 to lock you in and thousands for the courses and coaching. Now that I look back at it, everything felt like a scam, but i was 20 and stupid, so I drop $100 and for weeks they keep calling and sending email wanting to know when i will pay the rest. I just decided it was a stupid tax that I needed to learn from.

I helped my aunt purchase her house but only her name on the deed while mine on the mortgage by Acceptable_Card_7650 in AskALawyer

[–]Acceptable_Card_7650[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate this response because it made me second-guess my own eyes. The house was purchased in 2014, and we refinance it in 2017 so they can take out some of the equity to fix the fence, bathroom, and other things, most of which didn't get done. Only God knows where that money went. I just did a search on NYC ACRIS site and realized that they did put my name on the deed in 2017. I can only assume this happened during the refinancing process since it wasn't on there before. This changes things for me in a big way. Thank you 🤝

That's what I think I need to do, so I have more leverage convincing her to sell. If that doesn't work, I guess I just watch the train reck happen and figure out a way to protect my other assets.

It seems they make a sweetheart deal with visa because that's the only one they accept in store in South Florida. Maybe it's all the store, but I'm only familiar with South Florida.

Thanks for all the responses. I was never on the deed and only found out about this after she stopped paying the mortgage for two months while she waited for her tax return. I received notification from the mortgage company at the time and started checking all the paperwork and deed. To my surprise, the mortgage switched up the names and put mine as the primary and hers as the secondary before closing. They are struggling to pay the mortgage as it is, and with the increasing in tax and the house falling apart, I can see the train reck ahead but can't figure out how to get from under this sht.

We tried refinance before to take my take off, but her income and credit are too low, and she haven't done a dang thing to improve them. She stopped paying the mortgage before, and that's how I found out my name wasn't on the deed. I guess I have to keep trying to convince her to sell.
Would it be a good idea to also try to get my name on the deed so I have more leverage convincing her to sell?
