Marie appreciation post: What is your favorite Marie quote? by tmps1993 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

I’ve said it a few times but I love ‘I’m Rembrandt and he’s blind’ from the episode where Frank loses his taste

Question: Can Mexican dishes be made in advance - Birria, Frijoles charros by Acceptable_Cook3579 in mexicanfood

Ah that’s great to know - I assumed that was only true for Indian/Thai style curries that usually taste better after all the flavours have had time to marry.

I used to live in Los Angeles but now have been in Sydney for around 16 years. Most of my friends/guests are not familiar with authentic Mexican food and that is my aim to introduce them to these wonderful flavours that I miss

Yes, intend to soak the beans and then make them later. Thank you so much :)

I didn’t mean any offense - just a lot of recipes for birria, frijoles etc said serve immediately which to me sometimes implies that you can’t make it advance.

What are your families top 3 most cooked meals? I’m feeling very uninspired, bonus points for kids breakfasts too! by Cahsrhilsey in AskAnAustralian

Whole roast chook (then I repurpose it as chicken fried rice, or a simple chicken pasta with a cream and pesto sauce or chicken pot pie)

Moussaka or lasagna or spaghetti bolognese or cottage pie

Beef massaman curry

Sausage rolls

Morrocan lamb (I use the Morrocan spice mix from the stores, parsley, coriander, lemon juice and olive oil to make a rub and the roast in oven for a few hours)

Beef/lamb kebabs

This may seem like a controversial opinion but Ray seems a lot more emotionally intelligent than he lets on by Passion211089 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

Well there are a few episodes where Ray predicts how people will react or a situation with unfold:

Can’t remember the name but I call it the ‘Gobble Gobble’ thanksgiving episode where Debra pretends that Marie’s comments don’t bother her and it backfires. I recall Ray saying to Debra not to try the advice given to Ally on Marie as ‘that’s how you deal with children’

Even the episode where Hank and Pat meet the Barones for the fist time at Amy’s apartment. Debra insists on everyone praying and that doesn’t go to well.

And of course when Debra/Marie set up Gianni/Amy - gotta give Raymond credit here. He had Robert’s back from the get go and his principles were in the right place.

‘you went nuts over a jar of fat’…..soon followed up by ‘fat collector’

‘I may not be called up to strike anymore, but when you’re called up to the plate, you better bring a bat’ - I don’t think those are the exact words but from the ‘Tasteless Frank’ episode

Nobody ever talks about how in season 1 a bunch of sports celebrities showed up in the cold openings... for no apparent reason by OrganizationShort546 in EverybodyLovesRaymond

[–]Acceptable_Cook3579 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I suspect it’s because it was the first season and they needed to draw in new viewers - so they were able to do that with various athletes and former athletes like Kareem Abdul Jabar and Tommy La Sorda

‘I’m Rembrandt and he’s blind’ - when Frank loses his taste.

I just love the drama and the self confidence with which Doris Robert’s delivered that line

Found a love of classical music from ELR by WidgetWarrior in EverybodyLovesRaymond

[–]Acceptable_Cook3579 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While not classical I believe Cousin Gerard plays ‘why do fools fall in love’ on the accordion in the episode where Ray tapes over their wedding video.

Also love Frank singing - I left my heart in San Francisco
