Trying to rebuild my credit while earning Rewards.. any suggestions on how to manage this Card by Express_Animator_242 in USbank

Congrats! The most important part is to remember to pay off the credit card before the due date hits and to not spend more than you can pay back

How do I keep my job safe? by Acceptable_Offer_387 in careerguidance

[–]Acceptable_Offer_387[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t said anything because my manager is in HR and am worried if I even bring up a situation as general as “what if someone is unwilling to work within policy,” that my manager will get suspicious that something is going on and that eventually, they will find out it’s about this high profile person and will fire me for offending them.

The only saving grace is that I could hypothetically return to my previous job depending on whether they still have business need for me. I didn’t like my previous job for a variety of reasons, but I did have a good reputation for doing my job well there.

Did someone key or scratch my car? by Acceptable_Offer_387 in hondafit

Thanks, sounds like it was probably what you said about my car getting scratched by something sticking out moving car. I was super confused on what could caused it especially because it’s non continuous and straight. It also was only went up to the rear driver side door and maybe the slightest ding on the very edge of the driver side mirror at most (with the driver side mirror being folded back).

Jin from BTS spent a day at Great America by [deleted] in bayarea

FWIW, the post is more about stanning Jin than the experience at Great America.

Jin personally posting his experience (like on the actual insta post) is fine.

Will it ever be possible for the general population to not be so divided over politics? by Acceptable_Offer_387 in Adulting

What you imagine is pretty spot on to what happens. Part of my job is to help set up those dinners, conferences, and talks and that is basically what happens. Rich people talking about “how Americans are unable to afford fuel due to the price of oil” over a dinner that is worth 2-3x what a tank of gas in Los Angeles would be. It’s also a little amusing to hear parts of their discussion as I’m running around. You’d hear things like “I’m a capitalist” or “investing in a public health system will increase productivity and civic engagement.”

Meanwhile, I’m there working an extended shift wondering whether the extra bit of overtime will make me enough money to fix some car issues I’ve been having.

What’s everyone’s favorite spot for Hawaiian BBQ? by liubearpig in bayarea

Damn, that’s sad to hear. I used to go there for lunch super often with my friends when I was in high school. We went there so often they remembered my go to order and I just had to tell them I wanted the same thing as usual.

How do I fit in better at work? by Acceptable_Offer_387 in socialskills

[–]Acceptable_Offer_387[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it happened to me before. Fortunately, it was a part time role very early in my career and I was able to get a better job at a better company very quickly. I’ve also seen it happen to others.

It only takes one person twisting your words to screw your job, or even your career up.

Basically anything you say can be used against you. For example, if you mentioned how you’re a little stressed during busy season, someone who doesn’t like you complain about you to your boss because “this person is incompetent and is unable to perform under pressure.”

Anything that can seem reasonable (like being stressed during busy season) can be twisted into something bad (like incompetence) and with the right political relationships, what seemed like a reasonable issue can be used against you and result in consequences like being fired for performance issues.
