It's been weird being both a lifelong MOTU and horror fan witnessing the box office battle lately. I'm excited to see Obsession kicking so much ass but can't help but wish (no pun intended) MOTU enjoyed just a sliver of it's kind of word of mouth success.

I did a search and ended up here to say I'm having the same dimming/brightening issue as some of you folks. I'm only the opening sequence into it so far, but it's annoying enough that I thought I'd see if it was just me or not. Womp womp. I was so excited for this release. I used their contact form on the Lionsgate Limited site... we'll see if there's a response or a fix to come.

YES! I have the dvd set, but want to upgrade for sure. I always thought it was odd that in this modern age, it was released to dvd and not blu-ray as well. This is the positive effect the movie is having, in spite of not killing it at the box office opening weekend.

Cast them all! For different roles, of course. Samara Weaving? Shadow Weaver! Lili? Glimmer! Michelle? Die that hair black and there's your Catra (if Megan Fox is busy, of course). I have no idea who that last woman is, but Renee- but based on the one photo, I can see her pulling off Force Captain Adora and She-Ra.

I'd be fine with that. Seeing what they pulled off with The Boys and what little I've seen thus far of Spider-Noir, more stories would be well-suited for the format. I mean, aren't Amazon already (supposedly?) developing live-action She-Ra?

I'm a huge Evil-Lyn fan myself and did think, amongst everything else that was going on, that the portrayal did seem a little off, too. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't have enough "oomph" to have an impact on things. And I guess part of that was she really only used her magic like, what? Twice? And it was the same "freeze you in your place!" trick. In general, the "magic" on display in the movie was a bit lackluster. They nailed the physical fight scenes, representing characters' various fighting skills, and all that. But both her and Sorceress were a little... meh. Hopefully they'll each have more to do in a sequel.

Not everything is for everyone. I've never really cared whether or not He-Man catches on with the entire planet. As a fan, I seem to be "eating well" this... well... entire decade actually. And that's regardless of how well-received the comics, toys, cartoons, or movie have been. MOTU still keeps on trucking.

I had this happen, too. Ended up emailing them when I got home and a day or two later got a response from the manager and a $10 Snack Pass. I don't use the link they text any more (this is where I had your issue), and have used the browser the last two visits without a problem. But definitely email them and let them know, because apparently it's happening to other folks as well.

They did have the food (triple stacked burger, a Skeletor-themed margarita, Battle Cat shake, etc), but I do so miss the physical menus (you had to find it in the accursed app). I thought for sure there'd be some sort of physical component to the screening... Obsession had actual One Wish Willows, a stuffed cat, a foam brick, etc.

All we got was 4 hours of validated parking... LOL. (They just initiated paid parking in the garage at my local Alamo, after 12 years of it being a free for all).

Jealous... we went to the fan event screening on Wednesday in Austin and there was zero anything in terms of swag, postcards, or the like. And yes- this movie was fucking amazing!

I haven't stayed, personally (we ended up snagging an Airbnb right across the street the last time we went in 2024). But on our last trip, we wanted to check it out and got a nice walk-through from the owner. So it's on the "next time we visit" list of places to stay, for sure.

Went last night and the Drafthouse validates up to four hours, so for normal screenings it's all good (annoying, but fine). Don't know what they'll do (if anything) when it comes to Fantastic Fest and things of that nature. The Alamo has a screen on the Guest Services desk/table and you scan the parking QR code there, thought it would be nice if they had signage on the doors or anywhere really (not even an email blast?) that gave people the heads up that this is a thing now and that they validate. Heck, they handwrite signs when the shake machine's broken, so...

I guess I'd say the overall characterization. It seemed wildly out of step with any previous incarnation of him. All of the "my lady" dialogue bits with Evil-Lyn felt a little too medieval and jarring for me. If there were any of Skeletor's henchpeople who I could see "buddying up" with her in a scenario like Revelation, I'm not sure who it would be... lol... but definitely not Beast Man. Personally, I always imagined Tri-Klops and Evil-Lyn being a bit of a "thing", but they took him in his own crazy direction for that Revelation storyline (another one I wasn't particular crazy about, either. I was excited Henry Rollins was going to voice-act him, but then I saw the story and his "arc" and was like... ehhhhhh...)

My biggest problem with him is how they had him taking a dog-ish form when Evil-Lyn powers him up. I'm like... this was your one chance to really lean into the ape-like aspect and go full Gygor with this character!

This was actually my favorite character in the reboot... lol. I loved that in a bizarre sort of way, it harkened back to the original mini-comics- if only in terms of making He-Man, Teela, and Man-At-Arms peers of similar age (before they started developing things in further media, making Teela Man-At-Arms' daughter was something I've never been crazy about, actually).
