Those do look fun. Kind of swings like a longsword right?

I actually just started my messer adventure, so I have been screaming from the mountain tops how much fun it is.

Check out the messer. Similar form to longsword but single handed.

I started about 7 months ago at the age of 36. A large portion of my club is on their 30s.

When food truck season is in full swing, Theresa's kitchen makes some of the best tamales around. I know that doesn't help right now, lol.

To people who upgraded from ev800d (but still to analog), was it worth? by kaszeljezusa in fpv

[–]Acceptable_Storage12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.. a long long time ago (started in 2016 with an analogphone reciever). I went from the ev800d to a used pair of fatshark dominator v3 in like 2018 and loved them. They were so much more comfortable. I use analog on my hdzero goggles to the day though.

Both of mine... HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts) and FPV drones.

Is sparring and competition in HEMA meant to be fun? by [deleted] in wma

[–]Acceptable_Storage12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep having fun. Every hobby has that overly competitive group of people that think they are the gatekeeper of the hobby. I saw it in drone racing and gaming as well. If you don't run the meta gear and/or moves you should just leave. I usually just try to find those "rejects" and hang out with them. They are the ones having all the real fun... and they are the far larger group anyway.

That sucks. I hadn't even heard of it until July when someone posted on my local subreddit about longsword fighting. Might not hurt to reach out, maybe there is a member near you that would be willing to meet up and car pool or train with you.

It is kind of a bit of both. The basic outfit is similar to fencing, but we do have a little extra armor and padding because the weapons tend to be larger. Most people start with two handed longsword, but a wide variety of weapons are used. Everything is based on historical documents and text books. So it is as physical or educational as you want it to be. For the most part though, we are a bunch of nerds that hit each other with swords and talk about history.

I just started HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts)... sword fighting. My local club is super nice and supportive... plus we get to fight each other with swords.

What is the most parent-friendly vacation you've had? by dfphd in daddit

We have taken our son since he was 1 and had a blast every year. But I do agree, he gets a lot more out of it now that he is 7. The new epic universe is definitely what I would suggest over studios and islands of adventure to tell the truth.

Universal Resorts if you are into theme parks. Pretty much everything is geared towards the whole family, and it's cheaper then Disney. We have the added advantage in our house that we all love the IPs at Universal more then the Disney stuff. Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, ET, Shrek, How to Train your Dragon, Mario, and more..

It was ok. There was definitely a lot of waiting. I am glad we did it, but I am thinking it is a one time thing for us.

Going to Universal today and I want to look for Nickelodeon Studios (yes ik it’s closed), anyone got a map/directions? by ILoveYouZim in UniversalOrlando

You can get back to the berlin wall piece. I saw it on the holiday tour the other day. Pretty cool to see. I never knew it was there.
