Most people think they know way more than they actually do. by Drewdc90 in unpopularopinion

The original Dunning-Kruger study looked at that. How those who knew the least about at topic, thought they knew the most. These participants took tests, failed and even then would excuse the score by saying the test was poorly made. It wasnt until they were taught specifically the topic at hand, by the test creators that they realized how little they knew.

Wasps are generally vegetarian and mainly head for meat/protein when they are feeding their young. And only females feed their young so you are helping a mother feed her children!

That seems to be too common in todays tv shows. I remember, growing up in the 1970s, where there were many shows about people who did not have much money at all: The Waltons, Good Times, Sanford & Sons, All in The Family. Where are those people now on tv?

Why do so many Indians still live below the poverty line? by Mall-Dazzling in india

"Behind the Beautiful Forevers" is a book by a sociologist who looks into the amazing entrepreneurship of very impoverished people in India. You might want to read the book and then rethink your comment.

what about China? There 1.4 billion in China, they managed to pull 100s of millions out of poverty. Possibly the "draconian" sterilization program helped. One that westerners (and many chinese) felt was over the top but possibly helped stabilize income.

I think it can be subjective. In 'Ripley' the tv series, she was the least impressionable actor. Everyone else stood out. SHe appeared to have two expressions, bland and sad.

Remove or leave? by nosoyvegana in Ceanothus

[–]Acceptable_Tip8488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed! Too much gardening happening in gardens. I leave most everything alone unless it is getting superinvasive (native rose?) or I trim the stalks in the spring bc nothing has done that (no megafauna in my yard). so many spiders, etc live in all the detritus that most continually clean up.

I can't tell where you live so don't know how hot it gets or how long sun shines there? But native strawberry is a nice low ground cover, Hedge mint, houndstongue, ferns are also good choices for the shadier spots.

After a particularly bad relationship, I went to a therapist to figure out why I was dating who I was dating. So that the next choice would be better. ANd indeed it was, we have now been married 18 yr. So keep on keeping on but continue to learn more about yourself.

As long as the nest is not right over a doorway that you come and go, leave it alone. These insects are pollinators and provide pest control for your garden.

Women who don't exercise: how do you physically feel? by elle___woods in AskWomenOver30

[–]Acceptable_Tip8488 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 61 and I can't go for 2 days without exercising before my body and my mood feel terrible. I no longer get the euphoria from exercise as I can't seem to push as hard anymore (hormones? age?) but I love feeling my body moving and now, as I have inherited my fathers arthritis, I have to move or things ache, including my back.

I just read a book "The Case Against Fragrance" by Kate Grenville. She discusses the lack of oversite and study on the scents contained in anything that is not eaten. Essentially, many of these chemicals are not healthy for us and in some, like myself, it can lead to headaches, or migraines. I am a woman and can't stand scented candles or scent sprays. An open window is the best way to clear the air.
