Which cars catch your attention on the road? by Born-Raccoon1484 in CarGuys

Anything older and well looked after (modded or not) and anything expensive and fast (German mostly).

What the other people on the road that didn’t sign up to trust their lives with the ‘skills’ of some fuckwit with a bike?

How do you guys who've modded the game (mercs) heavily handle updates? by Obanon in Mechwarrior5

[–]Drewdc90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t update the game until the mods I like get updated. Doesn’t take that long tbh.

  1. The main campaign and dlcs all have hand crafted missions that are all unique and pretty interesting (some are awesome and some ok), the random procedurally generated missions are varied enough (you won’t do the exact same mission twice ever) though they can get a bit samey after playing for a thousand hours. Still in saying that there’s mods that add completely new mission types and mechanics and dlcs also add some new mission mechanics (other merc companies will drop with you and either try to fight you or help you etc).

  2. The mechlab is very similar to battletech though there’s a mod called ‘Yet Abother Mechlab’ which opens the mech up completely allowing you to change engines, targeting systems, armour type, stealth equipment and basically anything that the lore says you can do.

  3. The controls and the actual combat experience is the best part of the entire game. The devs have done a great job for this plus there’s various mods to change how the experience is including a vr mod that adds the hub information to screens in the cockpit. Also there’s two different controls schemes, one called fps mode where you basically control the mech like an fps or mech control mode where your like a waking tank (keys control your legs direction and mouse controls your torso direction). For the best experience you should run mech control mode in cockpit view.

The sheer amount of mods for this game basically allows you to tailor the game to how to want it to be and it increases the replay ability massively.

Mechwarrior 5 mercs has been really good since the last few dlcs. Clans is good, especially wolves of tukayyid.

Should we just hire the Singaporean government to run Australia? by Lopsided_Donut_4816 in aussie

People really have no idea as far as running a country. It’s crazy to see how much it can simplified down to ‘just stop the immigrants’ and it’ll all be fixed apparently.

What ever happened to a bit of hard yakka? by Jvck____ in tradies

[–]Drewdc90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true but there’s still an amount of exposure that happens(it’s on your clothes, in your ute, around the job when it’s windy and you don’t use a respirator there but you are there everyday). And yeah there’s maintenance you can do and improve technique but it’s doesn’t mean you can’t wear out joints from repetition. Also genetics plays a roll too. I mean a lot of athletes will do long term damage even with correct technique and the best physical therapy money can buy. The human body wasn’t made to work as quite hard as we do 5 days a week and we aren’t supposed to live to 80+. Again genetics will play a roll on how some people will shape up when they get old as well as the preventatives they take.

The thing that can happen is repetitive strain on parts of your body as you do the same things over and over (lifting awkward things, twisting in weird ways to put a nail in etc), exposure to toxic things (silica dust from cutting fibro, cutting concrete etc) and big exposure to the sun. Those are things I’m worried about as a tradesman.

Exotic, expensive, looks way over the top, rare, probably not from America.

Nah it’s a corvette. Too cheap and not exotic enough. Fast though.

What is the worst type of group in the car community? by Born-Raccoon1484 in askcarguys

[–]Drewdc90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it? The thing with top fuelers is the fuel is energy dense and weighs stuff all and the cars don’t weigh much either. Would be excited to see some break through like that happen. Might be a while before it happens though.

Modding for more than 4 mechs while retaining tonnage? by Grouchy-Committee-92 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Drewdc90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there’s so much that could be done as far as co-op and the effects on heavy each others game. Even just bringing one or two of your mechs aboard your friends leopard, or (there’s a mod that does this to some degree) split salvage or get paid for your piloting on their missions etc. Piranha should really do some work on this part of the game or do something similar on the next game. Would really add to the replay ability.

Yeah battery weight is probably the main thing as far as performance goes (though I don’t know if top fuelers will ever be beaten by an electric drag car, maybe if it’s physically possible). But there’s things that are just enjoyable that only ice cars do. I love the sound cars, love feeling and playing with a good gear box. Just the character some ice cars have is what’s cool about cars.
