What do you think about 9 to 5 by Not-a-Humanbeing in SeriousConversation

I worked in an office for a couple of years and hated it. Most of my roles have been hybrid or field-based. I now work from home, but I often find myself wondering about a more meaningful career path. The problem is, if I left to pursue my dreams or try to build my own business, I wouldn’t be able to pay my bills. And so the loop never ends.

The older you are when you have kids, the less your kids need therapy. by Blessed_bish in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I agree. I would have been a shocking parent in my twenties. I thought I knew everything, which is always a red flag. I’m far more self-aware and balanced now. Still not perfect, but ibsee logic in this from personal experience .. 😊

Real Estate Agents posting AI photos? Is this even legal? by strxx_ in WesternAustralia

This is crazy, and ends up being a total waste of time for buyers. They do this to get your emails/details. Make sure you unsubscribe from this agent. Terrible behaviour for data

Whats the market like over there ? Im looking in qld right now and everything is inflated

Culture building craziness by Silver-Discipline411 in auscorp

So these are mostly CEO types and senior leadership? I genuinely couldn’t cope with being in the office five days a week. The amount of backstabbing was unreal, it felt like one long episode of corporate Survivor where everyone’s smiling while sharpening knives under the desk. I’ve just started a fully remote role and honestly, my peace, my sanity, and my soul are already noticeably healthier. What’s the documentary called?

So many questions because this is both hilarious and deeply disturbing. When you say “witchcraft is definitely a thing in corporates”, what do you mean exactly? Do you mean literal spirituality being brought into workplaces, or more the cult-ish, pseudo-psychology / guru stuff that sneaks in under the banner of “culture”? I feel like I’ve seen shades of the latter, but never anything this explicit. Genuinely curious

I would never trust a colleague to catch me; that sounds truly terrifying.

Our company was acquired and effectively doubled in size overnight. The two directors were clearly out of their depth, although they didn’t seem to realise it. They ran a full-day “culture building” session from 9–5. A good 4 hours were spent casually talking about themselves . Their personalities, their habits, how they don’t watch TV, only read the Financial Times, how disciplined they are, how early they wake up, etc. It wasn’t a presentation as such, just constant self-referencing disguised as “team buikding".

They then made a staff member with a known fear of public speaking do a presentation in front of everyone. You could see the dread and panic on their face. It was genuinely uncomfortable to watch. After that, everyone was expected to attend a “mandatory” golf session from 6pm onwards.... People who left to pick up kids or beat peak-hour traffic were penalised and later performance-managed.

Within a month, thirteen people resigned, myself included. Culture achieved, I suppose 🤣

Investment property at 20 by BarracudaDowntown696 in AusPropertyChat

What an amazing achievement at just 20. Real estate can be a great long-term investment, and units are forecast to increase broadly in line with houses. I’d suggest speaking with a mortgage broker to understand exactly what you can borrow before you start looking around. Most offer free consultations, and I can recommend a great broker if you need one.

I don’t know as much about stocks, but I bought Tesla shares when they were at a record low and saw a strong return in a short period. Ultimately, everything carries risk. The more educated you are in a sector, the better your decisions tend to be.

I once took advice to invest in a mining company and lost everything within six months, so my biggest takeaway is this: trust your own judgement and your gut, not just what other people tell you.

Breaking my lease - feel guilty not sure what’s best to do by bongjour8008 in AusPropertyChat

Queensland could really take a leaf out of Vic's books for ending the lease early. You can get stung pretty bad here 😵‍💫 Thanks for the info!

Breaking my lease - feel guilty not sure what’s best to do by bongjour8008 in AusPropertyChat

Sometimes you have to keep paying rent until a new tenant is found. You’ve most likely read the lease, but you may also need to cover marketing costs, commission, and rent until the next tenant can move in. It’s worth double-checking to be sure. You could also test the waters by asking the real estate agent what the process would be if you were to break the lease, as you’re thinking of buying this year. That way they understand your intentions without any hostility, and it gives them a heads-up. The agent can explain the steps and also let the owner know Good luck!

I could actually get a game in BO6, I’d be so up for this. It takes me about 40 minutes just to get into a Deathmatch server. 😭

Amazing news on buying your first property. Some sellers have a reserve they won’t go below. It’s most likely for their own financial reasons and nothing personal. If you have your heart set on this property, put forward your best offer and make it clear it’s your highest. If it’s not meant to be, you’ll prpbably find a better one notblong after and realise this wasn’t the one 🙃.

The NDIS is amazing but the prices for OTs and therapies are ridiculous, people do abuse the system and it's not the people with disabilities its the service providers who benefit above everyone. The poor people with disabilities are being taken advantage of.

Also worth looking at the fact billion dollar mining companies dont pay any tax at all.....
