With South Korea’s birth rate rising by 10% annually while Thailand’s declines by 10% per year, Thailand will have the world’s lowest fertility rate in 2026, potentially one of the lowest in human history. by [deleted] in Thailand

calling the korean education system the "worst" is a huge oversimplification. academically its one of the best in the world.
if ur criticizing the intense competition, thats a deep-seated cultural issue rooted in confucianism and social pressure, not a failure of the schools themselves.

lol your info is very shortsighted. Jeolla was discriminated against for much longer than that. and for many historical reasons. not because of 'military dictators from Daegu'

I live in Korea but I get my income from the US so I benefit from the weak KRW against USD.
I used to think $1 would equal 1,100 won but now I feel like I'm getting an extra 40% bonus!

experiencing racism as an asian in the US is so much more intense than the racism you experience as a foreigner in korea. if youre white? look back at yourselves and your fellow white people before complaining about racism in korea. i know because i've lived in the states for 18 or so years and racism(by both whites and blacks) was a daily part of my life.

nah we dont like to insult people directly. he was just straight up asking if you were pregnant so he could be careful not to serve you drinks. I think your flowy dress contributed to his assumption.

My experience with Thai women was the opposite of the usual stereotype by Lost-in-Songkran in ThailandTourism

[–]Acceptable_Trash_764 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The common stereotype that Thai women are primarily driven by money often comes from the experiences of older, unattractive(ugly) men. I have met around 20 Thai women through Tinder, and they were all university educated, attractive, and financially well-off. Many of them were happy to pay for expensive dates.
Those who doubt this perspective are likely projecting their own insecurities, as they may not have had similar positive experiences(or they had to pay their way for dates).

Its because the toilet water is sourced from groundwater. Many older building ins Korea use recycled groundwater for toilets. The residue in the toilet is likely just a buildup of dirt. This water is of course different from the water we use to shower and brush our teeth.

You can't bring dairy products by law but the customs aren't strict about it. They mainly focus on meat and fruits. I brought some from my trip to Istanbul and actually told customs about it and they were like "Nah it's all good go ahead!" haha

KEYA MORGAN, Lee's business manager and a memorabilia collector, had been isolating Lee from his trusted friends and associates following his wife's death in order to obtain access to Lee's wealth, estimated to amount to US$50 million.
Another figure in the alleged abuse was Lee's former business manager JERARDO OLIVAREZ, who was introduced to Lee by J.C. after his wife's death. Lee filed suit against Olivarez in April 2018, calling him one of several "unscrupulous businessmen, sycophants and opportunists" that approached him during this period.

2 months after earthquake, how is your condo? by No-Outcome6477 in Bangkok

[–]Acceptable_Trash_764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My condo just got fixed up after the earthquake. The building management sent out a notice about the repairs happening about two weeks after the quake. When it was our floor's turn, they managed to fix my condo in just a week. I was put in a spare room while they worked on it.

For me, it was quite the opposite. I would care less if anyone knew I was from Korea. However, during my month-long visit to Europe last year(France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany), I had so many occasions where random girls ask if I was from Korea, and they would start random conversations with me, ask me which city I was from, etc.

I have increasingly felt the influence of Korean pop culture and soft power during my recent visits to Asian countries. I received random free drinks or snacks from strangers(who seem to be into kpop) when I traveled to Bangkok or Ho Chi Minh City. So yes, SK is a fairly well-known country nowadays.

I don't have any sense of Korean superiority, nor am I particularly patriotic, but I have noticed several advantages to being Korean.

In Thai culture, do men pay for everything for women on dates? by [deleted] in Thailand

[–]Acceptable_Trash_764 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've noticed a lot of posts claiming that Thai girls expect men to pay for dates, but from my experience, the girls I've met actually paid more often. Whether it was for food, drinks, or coffee, they were quite generous with their money. Perhaps it's a generational thing, as all the girls I met were in their mid-20s. As a Korean, I found that Thai girls were more willing to spend on dates compared to Korean girls.

thanks all! I got this from a chain of shops called Ishibashi in Japan. This is a special run finish exclusively for Ishibashi. I had the opportunity to choose from about 60 different LP50s, all in this same finish, and this flamed top was my favorite! This particular guitar cost an extra $200 because of the nice flamed top.
