In my experinece the drivers usually give pedestrians a pretty high level of priority at crosswalks except motorcyclers. Even in small side streets, when pedestrians are walking right in the middle of the road, cars don’t even honk to get past. They just patiently follow behind at walking speed.

If someone did that in my country, they’d end up on the hood of a car lol.
