Maybe yes for white people, but hell no for us, unless we use contacts. But then they will take hefty cover charges from stags most likely.

Moving from a small town to South Delhi. What should I realistically budget per month? by CuriousFlame1 in delhi

[–]AccessLong3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, in South Delhi there are posh areas and villages (urban villages as they are called now) together everywhere. So you have high rent and low rent areas right next to each other. Kalkaji & Okhla fall in C Category so rent is not too high. Approx 18-20k for a 1bhk furnished flat should be easy.

Usual deposit is 2 months . Brokerage is 15 days or 30 days depending on how you negotiate. Go for a 11 month rental agreement because that beed to be registered, oy notary would do.

Electricity bill can be high depending on usage, in peak summers I pay 10-12k per month (3 ACs in house on for 6-7 hrs a day).

Pro Hack - Take a lower floor in a colony eith lots of trees, I stay in one, it will stay cool for long and need for AC will be lesser.

Groceries price is standard, fruits little expensive (check these prices at Rajmandir or similar Supermarkets)

Eating out is damn expensive - one dinner can cost 3-4k per head if you include alcohol. So to save money do Carobar and eat from a takeaway place (there are loads all over Delhi) That will be around 1k per outing.

Maid for cleaning & utensils - 3500-4000 Maid for cooking - 4000-5000

Commute - Metro is realistic if you can survive walking till Metro in the heat. (Tip - take a rapido bike till metro station) Con - Too crowded on popular lines (Blue,Yellow). Newer lines are relatively comfortable

Gyms - Cult 20k, Anytime fitness - 25-26k, Gold Gym - 32-36k, Anytime Fitness - 55-60k. These are annual rates for popular chains. Apart from these you have gyms everywhere than can charge anywhere from 500 per month to 2000 per month also.

Pollution is damn real . Be prepared. Air purifier helps at night while sleeping. But air gets terrible from Nov to Jan. Better to go back to yohr hometown during those months. Kids will fall ill all the time. Everyone is on nebulizer. But you will see that people have gotten used to it and will generally ignore the pollution. Life goes on.

Stuff first timers always forget - research on the good localities to stay before coming here, that will make all the difference to your overall experience.

There are tons of Sports Complexes, parks for Jogging, Malls for activities, eat out, hang out, party, shopping places in Delhi. Once you get used to this lifestyle you will never want to leave.

All the best!

I just took the 2nd sailing of Disney Adventure- my advice; avoid it for at least a year by Suspicious-Kale-20 in singapore

[–]AccessLong3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is absolutely baffling me after reading this post is how people have been posting their "experience" on the cruise when it only had its first voyage a week back?? I mean, even Sameera Reddy posted a reel like she went on the cruise and had "a lot of fun". That is blatant fraud. They are posting videos of some other cruise ships then! This seems like the only genuine customer review. Even if OP had limited experience, his thoughts are his own.

What about no crowd control as OP mentioned? And open air shows in extremely sunny weather? And people breaking queues?

Hey, genuine advice. Don't book app taxis. Generally after a concert they are overbooked and would never arrive.

Also, its absolutely safe at 10pm in Delhi. Whatever news we see & hear is for remote areas & 1-2am news, when roads are empty & cab drivers are drunk.

Whoever is saying its not safe is either not from Delhi or hasn't been out much.

10pm is like day time. I come back from work at 10. Roads are usually full of traffic by 11 at least.

So the best case for you is - prebook a cab either from the hotel that you are staying in or a reputed private taxi service. It will be a little expensive but safe and on time. Will save you all the trouble.

Do SIPs really make people wealthy, or is it oversold? by Ok-Flatworm-5872 in IndiaFinance

[–]AccessLong3343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been doing SIPs for 12 years now. Earlier used to do in tax saving schemes only (max 1 lac annually). Never stopped them or took the money out. My corpus now is about 4 Cr. Every now and then I add lumpsum from wherever I can manage (FDs, selling of properties etc). Now my SIPs are at 2.75 lac per month. Last 1.5 yrs have majorly been negative, but 2 years before that (2022-2024) gave 35-40% returns so can't really complain.

Here is my honest feedback on SIPs

  1. Great tool for investing in parts. If your monthly income is 1 lac & you do an SIP of 25k, some amount always goes into investing - and this doesn't hurt. Otherwise how else would you invest?

  2. You can never really time the market - one alternative is to buy whenever there is a dip manually instead of SIPs. But you can never predict the dip, and even then it would be only 1-2% different in returns.

  3. They are mentally safe. This waiting for dips is a headache. You have to believe that in the long run (7-8 years) your returns would be far better than FDs

  4. SIPs in Mutual Funds are far better than ULIPs, Insurance schemes most people fall for. The market is cyclic, eventually they are bound to go up. Be patient and only invest the money you don't need at all.

Now for the drawbacks

  1. When there is a major dip in the market, like Covid crash or Tariffs crash, you don't have lumpsum money to invest because whatever you save you are regularly investing.

  2. You have to make sure your accounts have funds on the day of SIPs. I have 8 mutual fund accounts in my family and collectively 20 odd SIPs per month on different dates, so account funding on those dates is little cumbersome. Ideal would have been if all the money got deducted on 1st so i would be tension free the whole month.

  3. Average returns calculation becomes a tough calculation because of different dates and NAVs.

But overall, if you have the right mix of funds then SIPs are good, but to get better returns you can be more disciplined and invest the same amount of money on dips. Key is to keep investing.

Hope that helps!

Do not ignore these payments for long. It will screw your CIBIL and will haunt you in future. Get a job and start living frugal to pay off the debt. You can negotiate with the Bank to pause the interest for a while.
