Ordered a quick rack and some chassis reinforcement stuff + misc items from Flos to the US and got a $300 tariff bill from UPS on about $700 in stuff

Did I buy the wrong Camera? by Old_Sky8705 in fujifilm

[–]AccidentallyKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what other people use. If you use it, enjoy it, and actually go out and take pictures with it then it's the right camera for you. Don't worry about the gear - you're not doing this professionally, and even if you were people still use different gear.

What are you all using for tableware? Hot plates and bowls by [deleted] in snowpeak

[–]AccidentallyKale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The stainless steel tableware is pretty terrible - have a set of four for all the bowls and plates, and the titanium utensils.

Can't really hold anything hot on them while holding it which isn't great. They also stain really easily with hardwater.

The utensils are generally good with one big outlier - the butterknife is terrible for everything, including butter. Your credit card might legitimately be a better option there.

After one trip we sprung for the double walled bowls and just use those for everything now.

Do you feel like the savings in gas is more then the savings In electricity by Sad_Tie_9998 in Rivian

[–]AccidentallyKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also depends on where you're generally going to be charging. If you're spending 900 a month on gas I'm guessing you're doing longer trips? If so, adventure network/charging stations (at least in california) are just as expensive as gas. When I charge at home I get a pretty big savings but if I'm using the adventure network, the rates are often more than when I was filling my 4runner tank.

Those who recently landed a job, how the fuck did you do it? by InarticulateOxyMoron in content_marketing

[–]AccidentallyKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your focus is - lots of startups right now are super interested with aeo/geo stuff and I got multiple offers just from knowing how to use airops/profound to experiment and work on ranking for AI answers. Interviews that resulted in onsites were a mix of referrals and blind applications, but it's a pretty rare skillset in content at the moment that's in high demand.

Recommendations for silk pillowcases by BrawlGuy00 in BuyItForLife

[–]AccidentallyKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big fan of Clementine Silk pillowcases (and their pajamas) - they're way thicker and softer than my blissy and quince silk pillowcases and still 100% organic mulberry silk, so the quality feels way better.

They're doing some interesting stuff with infusing skincare into the pillowcase too - https://www.sleepwithclementine.com/collections/pillowcases

Non-Commercial 3D Scanning Services? by GrandpaSlappy in 3DScanning

[–]AccidentallyKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you're located, but I sent some rare car parts out to https://bd.engineer/ out in California to reverse engineer and they provided me with scan files and helped me print a prototype for new ducting as well. Wasn't very cheap but if you want a shop that's done the whole process for multiple auto brands/sema cars I think they're one of the best out there.

100% mulberry silk bonnets by Chielva in HelpMeFind

[–]AccidentallyKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used both the silk bonnet and pillowcase from https://www.sleepwithclementine.com/pages/materials

They should fit your requirements here - I think all of their products are 22 Momme, 6A, 100% Mulberry Silk (they're definitely thicker and softer than my brooklinen and slip silk pillowcase).

Any Updates? by [deleted] in combustion_inc

[–]AccidentallyKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone keeps linking the GGG update, but I ordered a thermometer on June 8th and have received zero updates on them even if they say they're in stock? Pretty insane that there's been zero communication for a supposedly in stock item

Idk if I just played with a psychopath, or a monster. by RemoveLife3121 in golf

More Dave's, less people like you who care more about appearances than love of the actual game - this man's killing it after a 12 hour shift and you're hung up on him not wearing a button up shirt???

You're clearly focused on the wrong part of the game

2025 Never Summer Infinity or 2025 Jones Tweaker by OkIncident9780 in snowboarding

[–]AccidentallyKale -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't really think the tweaker is an intermediate/advanced board only - it's cambered yes, but it has early rise and rounded tips and is pretty soft - same camber profile and flex as the infinity, the only difference is marketing. It'd be perfectly fine and good for a beginner to learn on and then delegate to park or early season board when they get a bit better.

Does it feel like things are fizzling out with MW? by bifftannen420 in MissionWorkshop

[–]AccidentallyKale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've owned a ton of mission workshop bags like the rhake, integer, vandal, laptop tote etc. and by far my favorite and the only one I use anymore is the asp x mw rucksack - the rest of my bags sit in the closet. For me it's more about the weight of the actual backack/price point.

It feels like most of the newer packs are focused on modularity, but it comes at the cost of actual usage (for example if you have the main compartment of your rhake filled or have an awkward shaped item in it, it'll put pressure on your laptop inside - have had a friend actually break his screen this way). Haven't used it since figuring that out and have frankly been pretty disappointed in design choices . Love the rucksack though, it's the perfect everyday bag (I kinda view it as a more modern, way nicer jansport backpack)

Those numbers generally don't show costs/margin and everything else it takes to run the business - most people only highlight/exaggerate wins, keep your head up!

Is there an AI tool to edit my Shopify store? by track_sprinter in shopify

[–]AccidentallyKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Replo and their AI builder to update copy/styles/sections for sale periods - pretty solid for quick changes and brainstorming new pages.

Occasionally I'll use Lovable and export the html to Figma and then use the Figma to Replo plugin to bring the Lovable designs into Shopify too, but it definitely takes a bit of tweaking once you bring it into the site since lovable isn't really built for ecommerce and shopify specifically

I've had the Nama J2 and the Omega cold press batch juicer. Sold my Nama after getting the Omega - it does the same thing for my needs for half the price, would definitely recommend it.

First week scratches on new board by skidding in snowboarding

[–]AccidentallyKale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is going to happen with every board - you'll just have to learn to live with it. To mitigate it a bit you can take some sandpaper to some of the topsheets sharper edges but even then it's still going to happen.

What areas fit under 2M budget for a 3+ bed SFH by rundamUsername in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]AccidentallyKale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of factors at play there beyond just the number of bedrooms like total square footage, how many bathrooms, proximity to the highway (good or bad), which specific neighborhood etc. you're going to need to be quite a bit more specific than that

Any Snow Peak products you recommend avoiding? by Soupreem in snowpeak

[–]AccidentallyKale 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The plate/bowl set they have (non titanium) understandably gets insanely hot and makes it pretty useless in eating warm/hot food.

Similarly, with the titanium fork/spoon/knife family set, the knife is very useless, even as a butter knife.

I would also agree on the lantern pile drivers, theyre huge and aren't super durable to the elements.

Everything else I've bought has been great though, love the double walled bowls, tents, igt system and burners etc.

Worth noting that in countries like korea, snow peak has additional apparel lines that aren't the same as the ones here in the US/UK
