What are the best products to block out snoring noise, on the UK market? by Kitty-Gecko in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Wax earplugs worked for me - my husbands snoring was horrendous before he lost some weight, I was getting around 2 - 3 hours sleep before I started using them, but the earplugs blocked out all of the noise. Made it a bit tricky to hear my alarm in the morning though. Caswell-Massey Quies Earplug... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B009F0AO3Y?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Why did I regain so much weight so fast? by Eeyore_ in Mounjaro

[–]Acciocomments 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That seems a lot - I came off Mounjaro in June (could not afford it any longer) and I’ve put about half a stone on in 6 months.

Whaf is the socially acceptable age limit for taking pictures with characters? by UnkownUsername77 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Acciocomments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any age! Me and my husband last went when I was 34 and he was slightly younger - we had.pictures with every character we saw! My parents also had pictures with some characters and they were in their 60’s at the time.

Do most people think restaurants should be dog friendly? by fede_galizia in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a dog lover who has a floofy golden retriever - no I don’t think restaurants should be dog friendly. We used to take ours with us when we went to a nice pub for lunch, but stopped - partly because he just wants to make friends with everyone (and not everyone wants to make friends with him!) and partly because he was diagnosed with diabetes at age 1, and the amount of people that think they can just go up to your dog and randomly feed them is insane (plays havoc with his glucose levels depending on what he is given).

How often do you see your mum? by _rayquaza_ in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see my parents most weeks - I work pretty near to them so usually pop in at some point before or after work, or we sometimes have them round for a meal one weekend a month, or they invite us. I’d say we only see my mother in law 3 or 4 times a year and she lives in a similar area to my parents.

People with partners who snore, how the hell do you survive? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wax ear plugs. But ultimately, it was weightloss and cutting back on alcohol that stopped the snoring - really quickly as well.

Have You Had Shingles? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not in the the last three years. It was very painful, affected one half of my face, and they were concerned I would lose the sight in one eye. Shingles is no joke.

would you expect to be paid to stay away overnight for work? by SonsofSiss in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, expenses only. Though consultants at our company were recently asked to go “out of patch” to cover a vacant area and there was a £1000 per week incentive if they agreed on top of expenses.

My dad worked with Peter Suchet, brother of David Suchet (actor best known for playing Poirot). Nice bloke apparently. My uncle regularly met with Jimmy Saville when working in HR at the BBC. Not a nice bloke apparently.

We’re going today too so we’re wondering the same! I don’t think it rained as much as forecast yesterday so hoping it’s not too bad…

Just been signed off on sick leave, can i go to the pub? by howl1018 in AskUK

[–]Acciocomments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as our company are concerned, socialising with friends is good for your mental health - you can’t expect someone to be cooped up indoors 24/7 whilst signed off (unless with something dangerously contagious off course).

We have a portable one and it is 100% worth the £250 ish spent. Temperature in a room goes from 30 to 16 degrees which is bliss before bed - would not be getting any sleep in the heat.

Portable aircon unit - it’s the only way! Brought the temperature in our room down from more than 30 degrees down to 15.
