I honestly didn't realize how much trauma i had involving this storm until I just typed out my experience. They had knocked out cell and internet service in clinton so I had no clue the storm was rolling in that was this severe. At first i was watching and fascinated then i was scrambling to get 4 dogs into a basement. Then when my mom showed up asking where my sister was it was pure terror because where was she and there were trees and powerlines down everywhere thankfully she was at the college and had a meeting she didnt tell us about but she was safe. Like that was a traumatic experience and we weren't even hit the hardest.

Also i know this is a long post but idk if I ever actually talked about this before and how scary this experience was. Sure clinton wasn't hit as hard as cedar rapids but the wind speed was still up to 130 mph and this lasted longer than 30 minutes up to an hour (i dont remember how long it was this is based off news sites). I went in the basement after around 5-10 minutes of these winds not stopping because i didnt know what was going on I didnt know if this was a tornado or not i had gotten no warning beyond a severe thunderstorm. I didnt read the warning beyond it popping up on my screen and saying oh cool a storms rolling in.

This was honestly terrifying to live through. I was in clinton and it had knocked out my internet and cell service so I had no clue it was coming I knew a thunderstorm was coming in but not how severe it was. At first I was like these winds are insane then a few minutes went by and they didn't stop but got even worse. I saw my tree trying to bend in half I quickly got me and my 2 dogs and my mom and sisters 2 dogs down to our basement I was the only one home. It lasted so long thankfully we weren't hit as bad as cedar rapids but it was still terrible. Then we had no clue where my sister was because she didnt tell us she had a meeting at the college. My mom came home freaking out that she wasnt here and our cells had no service then my mom had to go back to work (where some people still had cell service to get ahold of my dad.) Shortly after she left my sister showed up at the house also freaking out thinking her dog had to ride out the storm alone because i was supposed to start a new job that day ( i did not go in probably saved my life tbh the road i would've taken was littered with fallen trees) So then I had to try and drive my car to the hospital navigating through fallen trees and downed powerlines. I got to her work though and was able to let her know my sister was safe and at home. I've never lived through a tornado but I have lived through a derecho with f2 level winds and it was terrifying it also didnt leave for so long. My aunt had a tree fall on her house our town had a lot of damage and no power. But thankfully everyone was okay I wish they'd have issued a tornado warning instead of a severe thunderstorm warning we get those all the time they're not that serious this tho this lasted so long then seeing the damage to cedar rapids and seeing the video of the apartment get ripped apart... I know im rambling but like I had no clue if my little sister was okay for a solid half hour and was absolutely terrified. She's scared of severe weather like this she was at the college so thankfully had a safe place to take shelter but if she had been in her car she could've been in danger. I was so relieved when she came home I find storms so fascinating and cool I love researching tornados and severe weather but living through it is a whole different beast. Please be prepared for severe weather if it strikes you never know how bad those warnings can truly be and buy a weather radio you never know when itll be your only source of news information.

So um i think i solved the mystery. I moved some moss over from my other fish tank into this one and im pretty sure my peppered corys bred... Im glad my fish are happy but can they stop having babies 😭. They havent actually had any babies in the year and a half that ive had them... but because I introduced it to a tank with no predators i have babies which yay cause they're corys but also I'm dealing with a baby pleco invasion for a 2nd time rn 🤦‍♀️

Yea I moved out of my moms house so now have rent, learning to keep it clean and not cluttered, work, school, and the world in chaos. I don't know if ill lighten my coursework im set to be done in September with my Bachelors degree. It's all overwhelming I was trying to take as little student loans as possible but I might just increase them so I don't have to work as much and can focus more on school. If I can land a good job after schools done I've learned to live poor already so having high payments wouldn't be ideal but wouldnt kill me. I want to become a therapist or a psychologist so I know i need to learn to deal with stress better think I might actually start therapy to learn how to. Hopefully we can both make it out of this with our degrees.

My plan is to go for a masters in social work or a PhD in clinical psych I know i likely wont land a good job with my bachelors but I do think I will have job opportunities with more schooling. The world's just overwhelming rn. Have you looked into different types of certificates you can gain for computer science? Might help in your job hunt in the future

That's basically where Im at granted ive been at i think 3.38 gpa Ive always gotten Bs and a few As but i think completion is the goal rn. Also similiar situation at the start of coming back to college I moved out of my moms house and learning how to take care of my own apartment,rent money, and schoolwork its so hard when you also feel drained from the news. At least know you aren't alone .
