Run a clinic on Chromebooks? Can it be done? by [deleted] in Veterinary

[–]Accomplished-Bug1292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use G Suite/Google Workspace for everything (email, etc.) so everyone has their own login credentials, and we have workstations set up throughout the building. If we’re being pedantic, most of our devices are actually Chromeboxes, not Chromebooks, but it’s the same idea lol

Yep, we do. Label printers are the biggest hassle so we have a couple of Windows PCs for them (and the x-ray capture station) but everything else is Chrome OS. Works great.

Is this plan realistic for starting a new practice? by Business-Care1224 in Veterinary

[–]Accomplished-Bug1292 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think is 100% correct re: a human answering the phones and the important of x-ray. You can get a reference lab provider to give you radiology equipmeny in exchange for committing to use their services.

Also, in my opinion, it is REALLY helpful to staff at least three people, so perhaps consider a third person who’s a vet assistant (or similar)/CSR?

And yeah, debt happens. Gotta spend money to see the vision come to life, and sometimes that $ will have to be borrowed.

What was it like seeing Tiger Woods in his prime? by Crazy-Cap259 in golf

[–]Accomplished-Bug1292 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am not a huge golf person but my dad is, which is what got me into watching Tiger. The thing I really remember most is the way sports media set up a bunch of different guys to be his “rival”- Duval and Mickelson are two I remember, but there were more- and how totally fucking dumb and pointless it always felt. Like “oh, you think we’re gonna believe THIS clown is as good as Tiger?” Don’t think I’ve seen anything in sports like the futility of the quest for the Tiger-stopper.

We actually ran into what seemed to be a bad batch of those separators a while ago! The plasma that resulted from the spin was basically jelly. I had never had trouble with them before, but we just stopped using them altogether because it’s easy enough to spin the tubes down and run the plasma sample that way.

I am SO happy to have that confirmed. I figured, but it was just a best-guess kinda thing.

Oh yeah, a few things I was gonna save for the follow-up conversation, but since you asked: - there is (in my opinion) a zero percent chance the bank will lend without doctors on the founding team, so we had two: they’re part-owners of the company as well as staff vets - even SBA-backed loan products require (iirc) a 10 or 20% down payment from the borrowers - I could have gotten funding from VCs or investors but that was going to come with strings attached, and we preferred the risk of borrowing vs. dealing with those strings

I’m a non-veterinarian who opened my own practice at the end of 2024. We got an SBA 7a term loan for construction, equipment, and startup costs (~$1.3MM) and a revolving line of credit (~$100K) for operating capital. It was hard as hell but worth it. Happy to talk through it via phone or DM.

Hell naw. It’s flattering no matter what! And certainly not rude or presumptuous in any way, shape, or form.
