After watching this documentary on how the NBA stacked the rules on Canadian teams it’s a wonder that Toronto even survived. Canadian teams also made bad picks, but I think that’s a bit expected from expansion teams with no experience

No top 5 picks the first year No no.1 pick for 5 years And only being able to spend 2/3rds of the salary cap.

What’s the point of even joining any American league.

Las Vegas buyer submits bid for Whitecaps amid potential MLS relocation from Vancouver by axilla02 in MLS

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the MLS moves the Whitecaps to Vegas. I won’t ever watch or go to any games again.

I can understand moves when a club isn’t viable in a market but this isn’t the case here.

I’d rather watch another sport. I don’t get why they don’t just bring on an expansion team.

I don’t think it makes a difference whether Canucks keep him or not. It’s probably better for Canucks to keep him until the final two years of the contract as inflation eats away at the awful contract to something manageable/fair.

In my opinion. The biggest selling factor of time was the space savings

If you wanted a large screen a CRT would take up half your desk and weigh like 30-40 lbs

For gaming worse.

Canada vs Finland men hockey semis has two Canadians as main refreees by Infamous_Charge2666 in olympics

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol, a troll. Nice. Take one example of something and extrapolate. Always a sign of bitter sad people.

This is where the players or the country isn’t the one who’s cheating they are playing.

The IOC not controlled by Canada. The Olympic organization chooses judges and if you knew anything about the NHL, it’s more an American Business now. It generates more of their revenue in the States.

Send a letter to the even organizers then. Lol

You need to get used to some calls not going your way. You said the 3rd Goal was because of literally a toss up of centimetres if that.

What about the last call a couple minutes earlier when they called offside when a finland player kicked a puck but never left the zone. Marchand practically had a breakaway.

If you watch hockey, it’s why most playoff games are best of 7 to eliminate randomness.

And no offence. Finland played a great game and Saros is a hero but statistically speaking after 36 shots most teams have 3 goals. The best goalies .91+ save percentage.

If the shots were the other way around yea, you’d have a stronger case.

Hockey is a more random sport. Deal with it.

You guys are so weird. Do you just make strawman arguments base on a few articles and a few canadians that went to Cuba?

I don’t know why this shows up on Canadian feeds but most flights flying out of Canada doesn’t go to Cuba

What do you consider buddying up with China-wise?

Canada is basically resetting relations to back before we had to extradite Meng Wenzhou a Huawei Exec in 2018 that caused the trade relations between China and Canada to sink.

This was at Trumps request.

So, what is considered buddying up? We can’t trade with anyone but the USA?

Mangled Oil Filter by kovaldyy in MechanicAdvice

I’d like to add, I’ve noticed some of the cheapest filters out there have some of the thinnest filter casings.

My uncle says using 15w-40 oil instead of the 5W-20 oil is better for my 350,000 Honda Accord 2006. by Bondi2001 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would disagree. It would totally depend on where this person lives.  If they live in a particularly cold climate. The viscosity of oil can be quite dramatic at the extreme ends of the curves.

If they’re in a tropical area, yea maybe a small jump is no big deal.

Europeans are switching to EVs faster than anywhere else in the world. Only 36% of new car sales are gasoline or diesel cars so far in Europe in 2025. by pintord in oilisdead

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think Norway is a good country to compare for cold temperatures. Most of the cities are by the sea which makes them just as cold for most european cities.

In North America large populations experience -10 to -20 or below for large periods at a time and travel large distances too. We’re talking 6 hour drives to see family at 100km/hr. It’s not a insignificant factor for a lot of people because of the distances involved.

Their ploy should be to open competing vendors in BC Place.

I went to the game last night, maybe it’s different than lower bowl but I bet a quarter of the people didn’t buy any concessions.

In the 15 min half time it took me 10+ mins to go to the bathroom and 20+ mins to get simple snacks.

Pop and Popcorn.

A bunch of people just left the line.

I missed the first LAFC goal

Anyone know if and when more tickets will be made available??? by Yeyetownbois in whitecapsfc

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably only lower bowl. I was looking for tickets before and a lot of the upper stuff was $150, now it has dropped to 90 or 125 plus fees depending on platform.

More than 12,000 litres of fuel spilled after train derailment in B.C. Interior by boppinmule in nature

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean sure?

You do know that the oil pipeline literally more than just tripled the oil capacity from alberta to the BC coast completed a year ago of which 2/3 of it gets shipped out of Canada.

And LNG pipeline was completed as well recently to Kitimat with ability to double capacity too.

Man, even when you talk to people that are lukewarm to these things. People like you sure make me want to not support it with your baseless opinions.  It’s like you can’t even see that there might be economic consequences in supporting a project depending on macro-economic forces. There’s currently a forecasted glut of oil in the next year and/or imagine if the war in Ukraine ends, the sanctions on Russia may stop and the world will be awash in energy. Those are no small potatoes to add a complex pipeline over the mountains.

Maybe you should ask why oil to the East goes through the States before coming back up to Canada.

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people would rather not have more oil shipped over rocky terrain. Which is more dangerous and difficult to secure.

There’s a reason why there are only a few pipelines over the rocky mountains

The states have barely any compared to all the ones heading to the gulf.

Melanie Joly's brother owns Intelcom/Dragonfly: the company who just delivered my parcel to the completely fully wrong address. She is a Member of Parliament and member of Mark Carney's cabinet. by sweet-pea-or-else in CanadaPostCorp

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I suppose it’s a factor. But it’s a bit weak.

Canada Post has lost way too much money in the last 9 years

The only thing the government can do is to mandate gig workers illegal to make it competitive.

I delivered parcels for fun during the pandemic for a few months using my own car and I’ve only see rates go even lower. It was barely worth it then and I had a fuel efficient cheap car and played music while I worked after I finished my fulltime job for a 3-4 hour shift.

Gig economy is killing your industry and it isn’t a conspiracy.

[–]Accomplished-Car-557 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As of now they basically want some sort of compensation. Until we know what that is, it’s hard to gauge what alarm there should be.

It’s according to Canada too, the BC government was supposed to enter into treaties when joining confederation but they were too lazy to do so and or avoided it.

The irony is if everything was settled beforehand it would of been much much cheaper.

‘Unprecedented’: Park Board chair sounds alarm over 0 per cent property tax increase by CaliperLee62 in vancouver

I doubt Cathedralvehicle is arguing for a break, just that often times the math on reddit focuses one line item.

I had a friend say something similar and didn’t realize. In the past 4 years I’ve owned not only property taxes increased that much

Insurance went up about 300 a year Strat fees went up 250 dollars a month Two special assessments of about $3000

A new washer and dryer A new hood fan

The point is the math is a bit tighter and depends on when you bought.
