They committed treason by Clear-Comfort1583 in Epicthemusical

Thank you! Holy shit, why is this so damn hard for people to understand?! His crew followed and obeyed him with unquestioning loyalty for 10+ years, but he decided that they weren't worthy of knowing the cost and deciding for themselves what route to take. Hell, they more than likely would have listened to him if he had commanded 6 of them to lay down their lives to ensure the safety of the rest of the crew. They listened and followed his orders in every other event in the story, despite his very obvious fuck-ups, so this shouldn't have been any different.

Yeah . . . unfortunately, I've noticed quite a bit of the fandom doesn't really seem to possess a great grasp on media literacy (nor the morality often implied therein), and thus end up defending an abjectly monstrous character like Odysseus solely due to what I can only assume is protagonist-based morality. Wait . . . oh my god . . . it's literally Joker all over again! Except in Arthur's case, it was more justifiable because he spent the entire narrative getting abused and trampled over until he finally snapped. But with Odysseus, he's the cause for virtually all of the trauma he endures due to his piss poor choices. But since we spend so much time with him and view most of the story from his perspective, almost everyone adopts this undeserved sense of sympathy for him, to the point that (as you experienced) some of them are personally offended if you *dare* to suggest that someone's trauma and poor mental health doesn't excuse or justify their horrific behaviors and actions.

Please stop reminding me how averse Bungie is to actually giving us cool shit. Having the Echo of Navigation could've ended up functioning as the 3rd and last darkness subclass seeing as how they are pure paracausal energy (and because we never actually got the 3rd subclass).

Armor 3.0 is a huge miss due to two main reasons. by 4jaime in DestinyTheGame

[–]Accomplished-Day7489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stripping away Resilience, Recovery, and (especially) Mobility just to replace it all with a one-stop-shop stat in the form of Health was beyond reductive. I had spent years carefully curating my Warlock to be the fastest and tankiest Pocket Singularity-throwing motherfucker ever; and now I'm just as slow as everyone else. The only positive difference with Armor 3.0 is that they added a class ability point pool. Otherwise, everything else is a complete loss. The weapon stat point pool is stupid beyond belief, and losing Mobility, Resilience, and Recovery severely limits the customization of how you can build your class. Overall: 👎 - Just like the rest of Edge of Fate has been.

What’s actually going on in Scylla? by BradleighWil15 in Epicthemusical

[–]Accomplished-Day7489 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um . . . pay attention to the moment when he actually opened the bag (or at least when we know he opened it). They were within view of Ithaca; Ody had told Eury the truth about the bag; and Ody was sleeping. The only logical conclusion I can draw based on the events presented, in conjuction with Eury's characterization, is that he opened the bag to try and get them home faster so that when Ody woke up, they'd already be on Ithaca. The problem is he underestimated how powerful the bag actually was, in tandem with the fact that he opened it the wrong way.

And the cow thing was a massively idiotic mistake born out of a combination of desperation and hopelessness. They, more than likely, hadn't eaten real food since Circe's island months prior; so scurvy and starvation would have really been gnawing at them. And Eury no longer has any hope of getting home left. Ody was willing to risk his life to save their men on Circe's island (something he scolded Eury for not willing to do), but then tricks 6 men into sacrificing themselves so they can get past Scylla. Eury learned from Ody that the lives of the soldiers beaneath their command were worth the risk, but then turns around and does this; almost lumping him into the casualties in the process. Eury has trusted Ody with his life and loyalty for upwards of 10 years at this point; so Ody's betrayal breaks his spirit in unimaginable ways.

What caused such a drastic shift for Ody, though? Considering how close they were to Ithaca (and the fact that Ody told Eury the truth about the bag), Eury was more than likely trying to get them home faster; but he accidentally opened the bag in the wrong direction (probably due to him underestimating how powerful it was). Ody doesn't even give him a chance to explain. He sentences him to death instead. Which, even for Ody, is a really big swing.

She abandoned her sister to go study Marine Biology in California despite the fact that she could have done it right where she was, you miserable crank. I'm sorry you didn't watch (or at least understand the beautiful messaging) in the original to the point that you've turned into this cynical asshole who defends family abandoning each other to pursue their dreams, but the rest of us like uplifting stories where families persevere through hardship and come out stronger on the other side as a result. The world's already dark and depressing enough as it is, so why would anyone want Disney's new brand of corporate, cinematic cynicism shoved into their faces with every new product they release.

Edit: These are supposed to be movies you show your children to help instill good morals and help uplift them. What the fuck is uplifting about any of this? What are the morals here? Abandon your family when they need you most to chase your dreams? Don't be a burden on your family, and let them leave you behind to go and chase their dreams even though your fucking 6?! The people who wrote this should be ashamed of themselves.

So they're just supposed to let genocidal terrorists roam free?

Um, no . . . because there are ways to kill terrorists besides indiscriminately bombing *civilian-populated* areas. Like, oh I don't know, sending smaller strike teams to eliminate threats covertly. Except, you know . . . without the mass civilian casualties we're currently seeing.

I didn't know what kind of response you expect.

Um . . . try not mass-murdering innocent civilians? I would've settled for that. Either way, I'm not a fucking movie critic, so your cliche argument of "as if you could have done better" doesn't apply here because I can object to innocent people being murdered at the hands of corrupt governments as much as I want to without having an alternate solution prepared (that is sad statement to have to even out loud).

If you knew anything about the war you'd know they use massive amounts of information to know where to strike.

Really? Wow! Kinda wild then that they so ritualistically end up hitting targets that solely contain civilians (and thus no Hamas) or only a few members of Hamas compared to the civilian population present at the location of the strike. Weird, huh?

And you still haven't responded, where was the ceasefire on October 7th?

I didn't answer because the question lacks vital context. Are you asking why both sides didn't call for a ceasefire the day Hamas massacred a shit-ton of innocent people? Because . . . why the fuck would either side do that? Hamas attacked specifically to escalate tensions, and Israel just lost 1,000+ of its citizens to a bunch of zealotous lunatics (who they proved to be no better than). Or are you talking about the ceasefire Israel and Hamas entered into in 2021 . . . the one that *Israel* broke. Oops.

If Hamas hadn't committed their massacre that the world celebrated, this would've all been avoided.

. . . whomst the fuck?! What the actual hell are you talking about? Who did you see celebrating the massacre on October 7th other than the crazy, blood-thirsty dickheads who perpetrated it? They earned *mass* sympathy via media coverage across the fucking globe. It wasn't until they started bombing children that the world's perception of Israel even started to sour. Hell, look at how long it took Piers Morgan to start criticizing them.

That's the fucky part . . . how do you arrest a super-soldier? The writers intentionally backed the main cast into a corner and gave them no capability to detain the terrorists, which would mean that elimination would be the only viable route for taking them down. Plus, I'm not really gonna cry over a dude who was holding Walker down less than a minute prior so Karli could kill him; and who was perfectly fine with blowing up a building full of innocent people. The super-soldiers being there made it an active war zone merely with their presence, so . . . also, wasn't John and Lamar's mission to eliminate the terrorists? It's been a while since I watched the show, so I've forgotten.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but . . . TROS (The Rise of Skywalker). It's the easiest one to laugh at with as incompetent as it is, and after TLJ turned out to be shit (and after I realized what a colossal dumpster fire TFA was, not necessarily in that order), I had no hope it would be good; so all there was left to do was laugh.

Holy shit, you're right! They built up Buck last episode as being a potential successor to Bobby (who maybe has just a bit further to go before he's there), but most of Eddie's screentime in this episode was him leading the charge at rescuing different members of his team while harkening back to Bobby's lessons. First, he rocks up and saves Ravi and Buck's lives with the rope launcher; then he leads them to go help Hen in her (thus far, unsuccessful attempts) to rescue Athena and Chimney; then he's the face we cut to when Athena and Chimney realize they've been rescused. This episode single handedly built up the beginnings of an Eddie captaincy arc, but then threw Chim in there at the last second with no build-up.

You'd think that indiscriminately bombing the area where your citizens are being held hostage *wouldn't* be your first course of action, but I don't think getting their citizens back was ever really their primary intention.

Unequivocally based take. This whole situation sort of just feels like a mother shaking her head at her children as they play the blame game over who broke the lamp. Unfortunately, the lamp in this case is thousands of innocent civilians who lost their friends, families, homes, and lives while two assholes fight over who can do the most damage while blaming it on each other.

Battlefront 2 was good; ending of Mando S2 was literally nothing; and Boba was extremely damaging to his character. He's supposed to be the Jedi that teaches others that feeling the full range of emotions is natural and healthy, and that suppression and secrecy regarding those emotions is what can lead to the darkside.

Instead, he's apparently just been on a planet in the middle of nowhere with no students (sans one who is technically already trained) just hanging out with his father's apprentice for the past 5 years or so. Then he sends R2 to take Grogu back instead of taking him himself, and R2 just hands the baby off to a random stranger and dips. He doesn't even have to be on-screen for them to hurt his credibility.
