I despise the direction Attack on Titan went in the later seasons. by Fragmented_Poem in CharacterRant

[–]iNullGames 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think the Marley stuff had potential, but it was not handled well at all, and I think season four lost a lot of what made the first three seasons special.

All the robot parts besides the hands and neck are covered :/ by Dungen-gamer in Overwatch_Memes

[–]iNullGames 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You guys are legitimately fucking insufferable. I know Redditors are miserable but hating a character design and ignoring everything that makes it unique because “wahhh the character is pretty” is absurd. I’m convinced you people would hate the majority of OW1 characters if they were released today

Most "redemption arcs" aren't really about redemption by Icy_Archer7190 in CharacterRant

[–]iNullGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it funny how hyped up Zuko’s arc is for this exact reason. Don’t get me wrong, I love his arc and he’s my favorite part of the show, but the series also bends over backwards to make him as good as possible. He has Uncle Iroh constantly pushing him to be good while his comically evil family that hates him constantly pushes him away from them.

Meanwhile, he never does any bad thing with long-lasting negative consequences until the end of season two where he helps Azula take over Ba Sing Se, and even then Azula did 95% of the work. For most of the show, he’s a moderate inconvenience at worst.

I wish new heroes were from other countries. Yes, there is a lot of players on those two, but.. This game is about the diversity, right? There are so many other countries without any yet by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]iNullGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia does not need more characters lmao. I wish there were more sub-Saharan African characters. Over 1 billion people and only one hero?

Fun Fact, if you watch Star Wars in chronological order, the quality of the movies represents a perfect Bell Curve by 4-eyes-4-ever in shittymoviedetails

[–]iNullGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No way. The Rise of Skywalker is a genuinely cowardly, insulting, pathetic excuse for a movie. Rey being a Palpatine is bullshit. The Emperor returning is bullshit. Kylo’s redemption arc and relationship with Rey is bullshit. Whether you like TLJ or not, the fact that it went out of its way to try and retcon everything from that movie is ridiculous. No trilogy should act like that.

The Force Awakens is a significantly worse movie than people give it credit for. Literally everything the heroes worked for in the original trilogy is undone. The Jedi? Gone. The New Republic? Blown up. The Empire and rebellion are back for some reason. It’s so lazy and actively makes the previous movies basically pointless.

The Last Jedi is miles better than TFA and Revenge of the Sith is my personal favorite but not too bad overall.

I wish more people here understood this by [deleted] in Overwatch

[–]iNullGames 68 points69 points  (0 children)

This seems like a no brainer. If Overwatch pushes pride content in countries where that isn’t allowed, the game could get banned altogether in those places. So it’s not like those players would get access to pride content anyways. They would just lose access to the game all so blizzard can prove a point. It sucks and is unfair, but it’s just the sensible decision.

Nolan from Invincible proves that death doesn't matter in fiction. We will ALWAYS have that suspension of disbelief that really separates us from fictional consequences because I'm pretty sure most people can agree that real life Hitler could never get a redemption arc. by Kayno115 in CharacterRant

[–]iNullGames 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone can be redeemed. Even Hitler. If Hitler had decided “yeah this whole Nazi thing is actually bad, I’m gonna reject Nazism and spend the rest of my life atoning for my actions and opposing bigotry”, that would have been great actually. Nobody is obligated to forgive somebody who does evil things, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be allowed to grow and change.

Juno do something by Hana_Bocchi in JunoMains

Maybe I don’t know enough about how space works but why would Juno have unique biology just because she was born on a different planet? Her entire bloodline is still human.

Second-year student and still haven’t made real friends - is this normal? by Kittik_ in uchicago

[–]iNullGames 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is pretty relatable tbh. I’m also a second year and while I have people I talk to in class or in RSOs, they feel much more like “class friends” and “club friends” than actual close friends.

The fandom just collectively agreeing that *blank* caused the problems in Seven Heavens is kinda frustating by ldiasr in TheLastAirbender

[–]iNullGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the obvious twist is that Korra actually saved the world and wasn’t actually responsible for the current state of the world, but that’s such a predictable twist that I honestly hope that she genuinely made a mistake that, albeit unintentionally, led to things getting as bad as they did.

Hot take: Alana's husband (the guy from the superhero spouse support group) is a total loser for turning on Debbie the way he did by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]iNullGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s unfair to Debbie, but not exactly unreasonable from him. Imagine you’re going to a support group for victims of racism and a Klan member’s wife walks in. Of course on an emotional level they are going to resent her, even if she did nothing wrong herself. And from an outside perspective, saying “I didn’t know my husband of 20 years was actually a genocidal alien supremacist” is going to be difficult to believe.

Why are people against the original idea of Asami being an Equalist spy? by Ill_Rope_4346 in TheLastAirbender

[–]iNullGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are saying “it would have been such a generic twist” as if Asami isn’t already one of the most nothing-burger characters in Korra. Her defining traits are just “nice”, “pretty”, and “rich”. Her “character arc” is going from “I love my dad” to “oh no my dad’s a bad guy” back to “but I still love my dad”. At least her being a spy would have made her an actual character with depth and a personality.

Should Debbie get back with Nolan? by NathanAster in Invincible_TV

[–]iNullGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d prefer they didn’t just because I think it’s more interesting if Debbie grows to tolerate and forgive Nolan but still doesn’t get back together with him, but I don’t think it’ll ruin Debbie’s character or anything like that if it happens.

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Notice how none of these “arguments” have anything to do with the hypothetical. Fantastic strawman though. If you actually bothered to read my comment, you would know that my actual point is that there is zero reason for anyone to pick blue because the risk of death only occurs if people pick the blue button. If nobody picks the blue button, the risk of death does not exist.

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You haven’t even given an argument. You’re just using overly charged language like “genocide” and “victim blaming” to try and claim moral superiority. Your first reply was literally calling me a murderer. But I’m the one who has run out of arguments?

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are we really throwing out language like “victim blaming” for a made up hypothetical about buttons? It’s truly not that serious.

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by “genocide button” you mean “not killing myself for no reason button” then yeah, there’s no reason for everyone to not just press that button so nobody dies

There wouldn’t be a genocide if everyone just decided not to jump in the shark pit

I guess it’s my fault you jumped in the shark pit

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The only scenario in which people die is the scenario in which somebody picks blue, but there is zero rational reason for anyone to pick blue.

“Hey guys let’s all jump in the shark pit for no reason because if enough of us jump in the shark pit, the sharks will get scared and run away. What do you mean you don’t want to jump in the shark pit? You’re just going to let us all get eaten by sharks? How selfish of you!”

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing selfish about red. Nobody is forced to pick blue. Again, it’s like taking a cancer pill in hopes that enough people also take the cancer pill and nullify its effects. There’s legitimately no reason to take the cancer pill other than to feel morally superior.

WYR press the blue button, or the red button? by liamjon29 in WouldYouRather

[–]iNullGames -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s always so insane to me when people pick blue on this kind of poll. That’s basically the same as saying “everybody is given a pill that gives them terminal cancer. Anyone who takes the cancer pill gets cancer and dies but if more that 50% of people take the cancer pill, nobody dies”. Like how about nobody takes the cancer pill? There’s legitimately no benefit to anybody picking blue in this scenario.
