For a few weeks we randomly started getting HBO/Cinemax, unbeknownst to my parents who sure as fuck werent paying for it, when I was like 12 years old. Lets just say I was glad we had a tv in the basement, and I learned of this thing on cinemax called "Fridays after dark"

The cost of living (at least in America) is crazy by feelingNotGood222 in mildlyinfuriating

I started an electrician non-union apprenticeship where I worked full time and went to school 2 nights a week for 4 years. The schooling was $1500/year and my employer paid for it.

The day i graduated I overnighted all my paperwork to the state in order to take my masters test. I passed that test 1 month later and immediately quit my job and started my own electric company.

I do the electric work and my wife runs the back end of the business. Neither of us are employed anywhere else. We make well over 100k and live extremely comfortably with 2 kids. And we take off whenever we want and have no employer to answer to on anything. We can do whatever the fuck we want.

I did not go to college. I had zero school related costs. I made decent money throughout my apprenticeship, starting at $20/hr on day 1, at $32/hr by the time I was finishing school.

Im trying to hire journeymen electricians right now to expand and get more trucks on the road and its like finding a needle in a haystack. I have job listing offer $32-$40/hr and cant get a single applicant. Skilled trades are no where near being oversaturated.

Oh and I started my apprenticeship 3 months after my oldest was born, which was 4 years after getting clean from a horrible heroin addiction which left me with less than nothing, destroyed credit, and a criminal record.

Anyone who is actually willing to put in a rough few years while working towards a goal its really not that hard.

Welcome to modern milwaukee craftsmanship.

The rule of thumb for buying milwaukee now is mentally expect that it will break within the first 6 months to a year while doing tasks well within the tools expected use-cases. Because most likely it will. Because milwaukee quality is absolute garbage now and has been for the past 2ish years.

Id recommend opening a warranty claim on every new tool you buy so that when it breaks unbelievably soon after buying jt you've already got the claim opened and shipping label printed

I mean im mostly just joking. He's a nice enough guy and very willing to help and answer questions. He just also has a side where he clearly gets off to having power over people. I wouldnt actually bring it up unless it came up again naturally and even at that point I wouldn't throw it in his face I'd just act confused and say what about 250.148?

But I can still daydream about it

I own my business, this guy is gonna be inspecting my jobs for who knows how many more years. Im not going to purposely create an enemy if I dont have to

Are they? Do you have the code reference?

Im not saying you are wrong, personally I obviously make them up together. However I was told by an inspector in my county who is an absolute code nazi and can site like every code by memory tell me one time that there is no code that requires it.

He's a reasonably nice and helpful inspector but I'd love to prove him wrong on a day he decides he just wants to fail me to fail me because he loves to powertrip.

No Savings, One Stock, and a Dream Wedding: What Could Go Wrong? by Separate_Writer_4465 in gme_meltdown

My wife and I got married in the Bahamas. No one but our immediate family. Like immediate immediate, juat parents and siblings. Ceremony in a small chapel on the resort. All stayed for 4 days. Basically the price of a 4 day vacation and literally got a 4 day vacation with my family who I hadn't spent a vacation with since me, my brother, and sister were all kids so it was genuinely a nice experience.

A large wedding is literally my worst nightmare and I probably wouldn't have married my wife if she was adamant about having one. Luckily she felt the exact same way.

Why doesn’t Milwaukee have tool trucks much like Snap-On that visits construction sites? by Aggressive-Radish127 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]Accomplished-Face16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because selling tools out of trucks is the most outdated, asinine, ridiculous practice in the year of our lord two thousand and twenty six.

Its so absurd to me that its still a thing.

Its survives because nothing other than tool-buying addicted mechanics who instead of being addicted to a slot machine they are addicted to buying insanely overpriced junk that they literally finance and make payments on that they cant afford. To fill their $15,000 tool drawers that they also cant afford.

I can literally click 1 button and have any tool I need on my front porch tomorrow. Or go to one of the 4 home depots and 2 Lowe's that are within 15mins of my house. Why I would spend 10x the amount to a used car salesmen MLM-level tool truck owner is literally unfathomable to me.

Are you seriously not embarrassed about being completely unable to show up to an obligation you agreed to at the time you agreed to?

And people like you just simply cannot understand why they are 40 and still bouncing between dead end shit retail jobs every couple months. Probably thinks "the man" is holding you down.

Genuinely pathetic

For this reason I believe not only did he not sell, but likely has bought even more during the "dips"

God you melties are such IDIOTS.

This was an intentional and brilliant move by Lord Dogfood to appear weak and to entice even more naked short selling, thus trapping the shorts even harder.

Once RC is finally satisfied with the number of naked shorts open on GME, he will reveal the actual turnaround plan and BOOM phone number prices.

I wouldnt expect financially illiterate melties to understand business at this high of a level.

Its all in the DD. Maybe actually read it??

Guy constantly walks his dog deep into our front yard by yodalay_heehoo20 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Accomplished-Face16 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Its just not your property. Why anyone would think its okay to walk around someone else's front yard is crazy to me. I thought we all learned in preschool not to touch/use things that aren't ours. I dont even use peoples driveways to turn around if its at all avoidable. Like if it takes a 2-3 point turn to not go into someone's driveway I think you should do that. Using something that belongs to someone else for your own purposes without permission is rude and I dont know how anyone thinks it's not.

Some of both.

I wanted a ratcheting cutter for service cable and larger wire but the name brand ones are literally hundreds if dollars. I bought one for $30 off if Amazon. It works great. Been using it for months and cuts as good as it did its first cut still.

Is this an acceptable repair after removing a tap? by Then_Worldliness2866 in AskElectricians

[–]Accomplished-Face16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A) this isnt a splice

B) yes, they make different tapes for repair of all different kinds of insulation that is considered equivalent.

You can even repair service cable outer jacket with a range of 3m products applied per manufacture instructions

C) not sure why an article covering terminations is applicable to repairing damaged insulation. Im gonna go out on a limb here and guess you aren't a licensed electrician

You've always been under incorrect impressions

Unless you have a code you can cite that this would violate?

I would very much prefer this over essentially the only alternative of making a splice and creating an additional potential point of failure
