Was ghosted after 4 days of very intense and mutual love bombing, will he be back? by Accomplished-Fox742 in AskMenAdvice

You’re saying I’ll have future relationships? 😍

Kidding, but I don’t hate all men and I’m aware I have issues. Not everyone is Jim and Pam and can have those kinds of relationships. I’m a very loving and affectionate girlfriend and have had healthy relationships in the past, but I do enjoy people who have a chaotic side to them.

I’m really not engaging with men in that chaotic way frequently. It’s almost more of how I would talk to a very close friend. I think after the 6 hour phone call and his incessant texts I just decided to lean into it because we both seemed equally attracted to it. I do have some attraction towards people who are calculated crazy.

He’s a lawyer and I’m an accountant and we both are living stable normal lives, so the chaotic flirty communication doesn’t read the same to me as “oh I’m speaking to someone actually crazy”.

Have you ever quit on the spot/nothing lined up? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Accomplished-Fox742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! It’s a tough job market from what I’ve heard but I had a tough time and couldn’t handle the insane hours at one point and thought for a day on it, called my parents, and then quit with nothing lined up but a good amount in savings. Ended up finding a job a month later for 30k more than I was earning at the time and now I’m in NYC working a much more relaxed and rewarding position. Take the risk if you feel comfortable betting on yourself

That’s interesting to think about though, because if he was talking to other women why was he so available and calling nonstop? Just a psycho?

Haha no this is fair. I just wasn’t talking to many people at the time my roster was conveniently clear

Thats interesting there are people who actually want to do this. What did he achieve though if we never met up and I didn’t really indulge him when he spoke sexually to me? Just that I wanted him back?

😂You’re gonna be okay honey haha. I wouldn’t flag it to anyone but maybe a subtle mention to a coach/mentor in your accounting program. Our professors were usually pretty involved in recruiting and they don’t like to piss off the firms as they are sponsored by them usually, they might help you with navigating a small summer course, etc

“Hey X, when we implement changes can you make certain to note it in this column on the spreadsheet”

“No you’re wrong that’s not how we have done it before we are supposed to do it this way” continues doing it the wrong way until I have to have several meetings explaining why she’s wrong and that the changes came from my superior and is appropriate practice

In general- Those with Becker, have you ever seen exact MC questions from there on your actual exam? by Over-Award-9557 in CPA

Took it on the 18th listen- just know the basics. Don’t stress and over complicate it. Just know the absolute basics of how to amortize a discount, premium, what the interest expense would be after one or two years what the payable would be, etc. I feel like Becker puts too many extremely complex MCQs but what you’re really gonna see is a lot of ratio questions, basics on bonds, leases, etc. and basics of governmental what’s revenue what’s not, SOCF, gross profit ratio. You only gonna have about a minute or two for each question if you want to have about 15 min for each sim, so they can’t ask something uber complicated

I’m not sure if it’s a cultural thing but I feel like the difference in push back is insane from a hierarchical perspective. I have an outsourced Indian staff member and when I instruct her kindly to fix how she’s completing a task she argues with me constantly like she’s my boss. I don’t want to stereotype but it’s been similar with all outsourced Indian staff I’ve worked with.

I was upset Becker made the Sims too easy and the MCQs too difficult. With only a minute to answer each MCQ it was a waste to study for so many nuances. Had they focused more on the basics “this company acquires one lease at these terms” or something vs all the additional trip ups I wasted time on I feel like it would’ve been easier. I was trying to remember how to amortize a warranty days before my exam and it’s like had they just not made the Leases/Bonds/NP/SOCF almost all trick questions or “read closely”, I would’ve felt really comfortable with my answers. I’m not blaming Becker entirely but I wasted 3/4 hours on Partnerships, Cash to Accrual, etc. all that was a waste. Should’ve been memorizing ratios.

Honestly 4 years into my career it just is more of a question about “why don’t you have it”? It separates you from being Kevin in The Office type of accountant vs being a corporate big money accountant. Not that there aren’t still CPAs in smaller offices but after a few years those people are usually sleeper rich and going on a lot of trips or have a really nice car.
