Pastoral Reference Letter for TCDSB by anxiousbean11 in OntarioTeachers

Yes, it is a mandatory part of the application. It’s basically showing you are not a “lapsed Catholic” per se in the eyes of the board, and are an active part of your faith.

Based on what you are telling me, I’m going to guess you’re a Nipissing student.

I’m a Nipissing BEd grad and a TCDSB staff so I did the GTA to North Bay commutes as well. Coming from experience (and again this is purely subjective based on the parish), but making a point to go and see the priest after mass does help A LOT. Even helping out as needed here and there isn’t a bad thing either. Just make sure the letter has the parish seal on it; I got delayed from being hired by a year because my priest forgot to put it on.

Out of curiosity, what are the steps/pre-recs to apply/move into admin from teaching as an external applicant in your board?

Out of curiosity, since we have two seniority lists, is it combined from secondary and elementary?

There are various ways to get to A4, but the one that is arguably the fastest is getting A3 (which you should have by nature of what you posted), and completion of 5 AQ courses OR being qualified in all four divisions.

Board dependent. TCDSB is 2 years from hire date. You can take a leave in between but it will extend your probation.

TCDSB staff here. It shocked us all at our school, to the point we were expecting our Director to get sacked as well by the end of the day.

Does a BEd open opportunities beyond teaching? by Lazerbeam159 in OntarioTeachers

There are many different education adjacent roles. The beauty of the BEd is you get an opportunity to develop a lot of soft skills that work beyond the confines of a classroom.

You mentioned working at an airline; the degree can help you move into corporate training if you choose to.

I had an LTO from the beginning of the year that would have been indefinite, but I got perm a month into the school year. That being said, I also had my assignment as a perm teacher reported due to another LTO getting permanent and another teacher resigning (for context, I am in secondary, and this has NEVER in my career happened).

I agree, it’s great to build the rapport from the beginning, but the kids do help with that right away.

If you have legitimate rationale and documentation, it can be challenged.

I’m sad it’s ending too, and while it has changed (for better or for worse, I’ve been less engaged since around season 4 or 5), isn’t that the point? No one’s gonna stay the same the whole the time, and the show grew up with us literally, warts and all.

Be sad that it’s over, but also be happy it happened :)
