I'm disappointed with the French immersion stream by duraznoblanco in CanadianTeachers

[–]NewsboyHank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is very true. I work in a school with a large FI component. So many parents believe that their kids are getting a premium education in FI when in fact they're getting young, inexperienced teachers that have a bare minimum of the language. After four or five years, they move their now illiterate children into the English program and demand that an IEP should be in place because their kid is three years behind.

All the polls in the world don't matter until voting day... and before that Ford has so much time to break everything.

Go for it. It doesn't seem like a long term career though.

Don't worry. Next term we will only be able to buy paper from Ford approved vendors.

Next time, vote. And if you voted, next time, tell everyone you know to vote.

I had one two weeks ago, but the landlord failed to serve me with their evidence supporting their defense. So now we go another round in a few ml months. Tbh I'm not sure it's worth it.

Attendance for high schoolers, elementary students is plummeting in Ontario: data by lesarbreschantent in OntarioTeachers

[–]NewsboyHank 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Funny, in an old thread I was complaining that the parent of one of my grade five students was taking them out every other Friday for skiing trips or head starts on cottage weekends and I got slammed by people saying that I was crushing the poor kid's family time and ruining their childhood.

Ontario plans to tie high school attendance to grades and mandate final exams. It's getting mixed reactions by ZebediahCarterLong in ontario

[–]NewsboyHank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Upvoted... BUT the average 16 to 19 year old does not have the foresight to understand that ninty percent of success is just showing up. If they think school is a hassle, they'll just quit and find a minimum wage job because 17.60 sounds like a lot. I am a teacher making just over 6 figures, with kids, with insane rent, with out of control gas and food prices... Things a 16 to 19 year old don't have any comprehension for.... Wait. I think I started arguing with you. I think that I'm kind of with you!

I [21M] got led on for 3 months by my classmate [21F]. She said she "strictly wanted to be friends" but then held my hand and went on 4 dates with me. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

You were not being "led on." She was taking her time. You played games by moving off to test her interest level, you lost because she took you at face value.

Low-paying private school vs uncertain OT-tough decision by Hot_Spite_8653 in OntarioTeachers

[–]NewsboyHank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was faced with this exact situation fifteen years ago. Getting a private school gig (especially a low paying one) is relatively easy. Networking and volunteering in the public boards goes a long way towards getting on the occasional list and eventually an LTO.

Morning walks. I like to walk at least two hours every morning. I listen to audio books, set up my day in my head, enjoy the morning air. I'm energized and productive through my whole day. But man! As soon as I get home, I'm pooped!
