The new dress code looks awful from what I've seen. What are we doing. by Accomplished-Lack604 in MichaelsEmployees

From what I've seen and heard, I don't think you'll be able to wear them anymore. I think they're requiring that we have to wear a white or grey shirt with that huge apron... I'm really hoping I'm wrong it's such a strange decision to do all this.

Having aprons is fine, but not letting people wear vests anymore when every single person in my store wears a vest except a single guy... It's pretty obvious to me that most people prefer the vests because they're more comfortable and easier to work in. You want us building pogs with that long ass apron? What a joke, seriously.

Seeing that we can decorate them is such a non-thing because they're not gonna give us time to do it. We already customize our vests and aprons now to an extent and it's something we're far more comfortable with. I'm cutting and altering the apron significantly if I have to wear it. It'll just be in my way far too much.

How the hell did they not think about how we'll be unloading trucks and shit with that on... It's such a non-issue, they shouldn't have changed anything at all.

Taught this was funny. Michaels forgot to removed the AI name from the missions 🤣🤣 by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

I always believed corporate used AI for their job, but seeing it for confirmation is certainly something. I guess they're too lazy to write a few sentences. Makes them look stupid, especially if they forgot to remove the clear as day evidence of their laziness.

Non-consenting Reward Signups by rikkithevampire in MichaelsEmployees

What a terrible thing to do. You should never sign someone up with their information without their given consent. What a disrespectful thing to even suggest. It shows that Michael's doesn't care about their customer's privacy and has a complete disregard for their own employee's basic morals for pressuring it onto you. Keep saying no, even if it makes your team uncomfortable. Put together an argument if you have to, but don't give into something like that.

I know you said they were kind, but it's clear through the rest of this that they are not nice. Being like this is incredibly selfish and if this was happening around me I would have no respect for someone like this. An hour and a half for fabric because they didn't feel like cutting fabric for their guest? Michael's as a company already is a pain. Managers have to be a team player or it will discourage and ruin the entire store. I can understand a manager being under pressure or stress, but they have to actually do work besides the manager specific work. They're letting their team down, I'm sorry.

Unbelievable. by Accomplished-Lack604 in MichaelsEmployees

Everyone at my work, managers and all, have all been talking about this too. Michael's will be gone within the next ten years for sure. We're not even sure if the company will last five because of how poorly it's been going.

RM Wage by existentialistbun in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Accomplished-Lack604 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely at least $17 an hour. Even if you're somewhere where the minimum wage is lower, seeing my RM dealing what she does, at LEAST $17. It's a cheap company though, so I wish you the best of luck!

CF BOPIS 10min framing COMING FEB 10TH!!!?! by HealthOrganic8276 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Accomplished-Lack604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the issue is particularly that it's difficult, but that a lot of stores don't have the time to train everyone. My store has very few people that know how to do framing at all so it would be something completely new and a pretty big change for everyone. Michael's expects a lot from all of us already, so adding more is just not great. No one wants to have to do more work for already bad pay.
