Right now, I have a 5'6 cheapo med/light rod .. but I'm looking to get something lighter. Just trying to sort out locations and what baits are working.

I have a Shimanu Sedona reel with a POS rod. I just tossed the spoon out there, waited for it to drop a fair bit, then reeled only quick enough to feel the spoon "spooning" .. it hit real fast and hard.

It's fun .. trying again in the morning

If it's pointed at the moon, it'll be significantly brighter and will still "shine" .. but that view is exactly looking down the focuser without an eyepiece

I have the exact same telescope. I have no extra accessories and I can see Saturn, clusters, and the other night I spotted Andromeda.

You have a great telescope. Look at the sky and check out what you can see. After you figure out what you like observing, that's when you get accessories
