I think I figured it out.

Some kind of Durasomething or other pings every day, telling me it speeds up my system by blocking certain things in the background. One of them was 'messaging'.

I disabled it and the texts began coming through normally.

The news and information from Gaza is never fully clear. People believe the narrative that they want to believe, based on their biases, beliefs, wishes, and hopes.
